Ginger's 'Holy Trinity' Of Albums...

Albums, singles, songs and general Ginger banter

You need to give it a few years before you've got enough perspective to rate it alongside the likes of BLM and Earth Vs.

Me, I remember when BLM came out, I thought it was great and that it pissed all over even Earth Vs. However, having gained a bit of perspective, the initial excitement has died down and I can judge both albums objectively. To be honest, I think that Earth Vs now comes out on top but only just... meanwhile, VDC is currently my favourite by miles but given time and perspective, I reckon I might change my mind. We'll see.

(maybe that liquid lunch wasn't such a good idea since it is making me talk bollocks on the internet... oh well ;-) )

Nah, that's a really good point. 'Earth Vs' will always be a special album to me. Mainly because it was the first Wildhearts/Ginger album I heard. But also because the songs are just completely timeless.

I wonder how we'll all look back on 'VDC' in ten years time...

See, now when i first heard BLM, I didn't like it  I wanted more Wildhearts and didn't think much of the album and put it aside for ages. Then i pulled it out again for some reason, put it on and just thought "what the fuck was I thinking?!" and it's had a special spot in my heart ever since. Ah, bless.

My favourite would have to be my MP3 album of every song he's ever released. . Cop out but it's true.

A controversial new thread on the 'Ginger and The Sonic Circus' message board has revealed that fans of Ginger love everything their hero has ever released! While some preferred certain albums over others all were content to allow others to their own opinion. The unprecedented findings have sparked widespread agreement amongst fans that they do indeed love Ginger and that all of his musical ventures over the years have been great.
The thread continues.

OK, a fair enough point, amusingly made. These forums devoted to a single artist can probably tend to become slightly stagnant mutual-backslap-fests.

But surely it's fair enough that these topics come up on a new forum, devoted to an underknown and underappreciated artist. It's kind of reassuring to chat with others who share an admiration for the man's work (flawed and inconsistent though it might be), given that it sometimes seems that about 101.99% of the listening public couldn't give a flapping fuck about his music.

And if you're truly dissatisfied with the range of topics currently on offer, why not make one of your own? You can clearly write entertainingly and provocatively enough to contribute something worthwhile.

Believe it or not, "Potatoes & You" is probably my #2 behind earth vs. Great sound, great music, hilarious fuck ups and a comedy delivery very much in the line of "Chubbs".

A real stress reliever for me.

Dammit, I never got that one because I was stupid and forgot to buy it when I saw Giner play accoustic last summer... anyone know if you can actually buy Potatoes And You any more?

1) Earth vs (one of my favourite albums EVAR

2) VDC (newness could be a factor here though)

3) Grievous Acoustic Behaviour (Just cos it makes me laff)
or
3a) SG5 If you want a studio album.

Mind they all sound good.
