Why, for God's sake, does nobody seem to get that this is a joke? The fact that there are so many bleeps means this could never be played on the radio. It's called a 'Radio Edit' as a joke, probably because the Wildhearts have next to no chance of getting played on the radio anyway, regardless of how Classic Pop-Rock this song is (and I actually think it may be the catchiest thing Ginger's ever written). This has been done on purpose. It's fucking funny, especially given that you can tell what the swear words are. It's a fucking joke, people - lighten up.

It is pretty funny, I assume it was the bands idea to put the beeps in. I remember the single version of 'I wanna......' was also censored with a beep as well. They would probably be pissing themselves at the response.

I am more calm today, what I was really trying to say was I ws so looking forward to hearing this brand new material and the bleeps ruined/spoiled it for me and I cant enjoy listening to the song, I have tryed, it would of been better if the bad language had of been muted out. I'm "...just a little dissapointed" I dont understand why they would do this when on their TOTP "Caffeine bomb" performance they chanced and got away with the "....Shitting brown water" lyric.
Maybe Ginger is more willing to compromise now that he has his own record lable..

See, I don't think that even a spark of this has anything to do with compromise. I think it's been done as a joke - there is no way that the band (or anyone involved with the band) ever expected this to get any airplay. ever.

They only got away with it because Dante gave the producers a doctored lyric sheet...

17 February 1994

The band perform Caffeine Bomb on legendary UK music show Top Of The Pops, dressed in outrageous clothes and make-up. The lyrics "baby, can't you see I'm shitting brown water" pass by the censor unnoticed, thanks to Dante Bonutto submitting a false lyric ("baby, can't you see I'm in deep water) to the show's producers.

...so it's not like they were completely above board about it. Besides, that was one 'shitting' that's kind of buried both in the mix and in the middle of a ninety mile an hour verbal stream - Anyone who knew didn't care and anyone who didn't probably missed it anyway: how many of the lyrics did you pick out the first time you heard it? - The Sweetest Song has *anal moment* twentyfour of whatever.

Just play musical madlibs when the beeps turn up and insert the curse of your choice. :)

Um, compromise? Have you heard Howling Willie Cunt?!

got it :D
I can´t imagine Ginger having ANY hopes at all that this song
is going to get played anywhere. If he did - he´d be
completly delusional
That song is the best anti-single since anthem.

Isn't someone going to say how bloody great this song is? I will then.

I found the bleeping hilarious - I'm sure it's deliberate. Like, here's a radio edit where we signpost the fact that this song has a lot of swearing in it. Seriously, if the whole record's this good...

Got it off e-music where at first I thought they bleeped the song then started to think: is this a joke?

Rockin' song.

mikeygc wrote:For f**k sake!!! This is the first new stuff from the Wildhearts in ages and people are slating it because it has been censored. I'm no expert on the rules of getting a song in the charts but, if this is eligible(for length and download rules etc) then it certainly needs to be censored, (having heard the uncensored version, this ain't getting played on any major radio show!!)
Talking about getting other people to send it to you is a f**king joke. How is that helping the band???

I agree the bleeps are far from ideal, but the song is still immense and in two weeks we will all have the full proper uncensored album. Hopefully if enough people download it, the band will get the attention they deserve this time around!!

I can help the band by buying their album as I always have.

I can get the joke about the edited version, but that doesn't mean I have to buy it, or feel guilty that I didn't.

I don't think anyone's suggesting that the song isn't good - if anything, that makes the beeping even worse, because it detracts from the quality of the song. The riffing is immense, I love the "na-na-na-na" bits, and the vocal sounds fantastic - but you'll never convince me that those beeping beeps were a good idea!
How dare you!

well... the second thing the breadknife did when i put this on was laugh at the bleeping... so maybe it is funny! still think its a waste to turn it into a joke... btw the first was to tell me to turn it down... god help the neighbours in a couple of weeks then!

Why are we arguing over this? Were all in the same boat: Wildhearts fans casting our views on the newly released single. Were all allowed our opinions. Remember 'Demand Your/The Right To Be Unique'???
