MAY 2009 SOLO TOUR REViEWS **SETLiST SPOiLERS**

Albums, singles, songs and general Ginger banter

Postby Assmask » 18th May 09, 13:18

Hi All, sorry I didn't post a review of the Belfast gig earlier but I've had a rather mad time of it!

I went to the gig with a couple of guys from my band. I insisted they came along so they could see who my main influence was, who was to blame for all my weird timing in songs etc. Anway, I was mighty drunk when it started so I don't remember an awful lot.

Ginger was great, not a huge amount of energy from anywhere else mind. Denzel is immense however.

Highlights for me were Drinking in Daytime, Sonic Shake and Yeah Yeah Yeah. Crowd did seem up for it. No Meet and Greet at the end, at least that's what I was told.

My hangover the next day was extreme (due in part to the 2 yr old magic mushrooms my friend sprung on me at about 1 am). I had to get a flight to London for my friends stag do which was actually due to take place this coming weekend instead of the one just past. I discoverd this just after security. A little embarssing, and costly.

band had to catch the ferry in Belfast so had to shoot straight on after the gig.

Denzel was outstanding!!! what a drummer to watch

glad to see someone was as pissed as i was before the gig.

was in the bar from 2pm onwards that day. hangover was extreme also aside from the fact i tried to lift a friend up in the air, then i proceed to fall back and crack my head off the wall outside

I really enjoyed the Belfast gig even tho I was a bit disappointed in the size of the crowd

re: meet and great.. Ginger came out the side door for a quick chat at the end

*I should apologise to Ginger for drunkenly giving off about the lack of a Belfast gig on the next Wildhearts tour. Even though I was probably quite annoying, he was a gent as usual. So.. Apologies Ginger
Gee mister you got the best answering machine message I ever heard

good that denzel is gettin a bit of appreciaton tbh bein an ex-sticksman hes the main reason i prefer G solo projects to WH -despite the individual qualities of ritch, stidi etc denzel is a bit special . add to that the other members of the solo band and for me theyre just a cut above WH----sorry Wildies. WH have the advantage of longevity and fanbase--but when you consider that the guys on this tour only had 2 days pre-tour rehearsals its amazin

honestly he is one of the best drummers i have heard in years

any band would greatly benefit with him behind the kit

add in that he is an absolute gentleman as well

another thing that really stood out was that a girl from Japan had trekked over to make a load of the shows. even better was she could handle her Guinness extremely well considering some of my mates she was sitting with (and myself) are hardcore Guinness drinkers.

that kind of dedication was fantastic to see

i have pix up on my Facebook from Belfast gig.

I would just like to add my voice to the "Denzel is an amazing drummer and a complete gent" crowd.

Very flattering review of the Dudley gig in todays Kerrang!

"Legend", "Perhaps the most talented Brittish songwriter since John Lennon" and "Geordie genius" are mentiond and thats gotta put a smile on the Big G's face :D
Interviewer - "So whats the secret of your longevity?"
Ginger - "Splitting up!"

"Bernard, its hot in the worm."

"School aint shit, I read it in a book"

That's his Myspace - he added me when he only had like 60 friends or something - never could figure out why!

Some good drumming, right there!

Looking at the myspace there's some Calcius Repton dates on there so you could do just that.
