Ginger London Gig

Awesome gig, fantastic set, crowd were a bit lacklustre at times apart from me and a few others. CJ was milling about, we got Church of the broken hearted, a bit of Howlin' Willie, and a couple of new ones which sounded sweet! All in all a great night, Ginger seemed a bit disappointed with the numbers, but they were so so tight and basically played a blinder! Bit of a mangled summary but fuck it - incredible scenes!!

To add to that, Ginger's singing was awesome and the band nailed the harmonies too - well done guys! We also got a few lines of In My Room, which as a huge Beach Boys fan was a massive bonus

I thought Ginger and the band played a blinder. The crowd did seem to be of the "Go on impress us" club. I think it's more to do with no one really knowing what to expect. With the Wildhearts you pretty much know what you're going to get. Solo; acoustic? semi-acoustic? Complete Rock Out? Mixture of all of the above? I think it was more of "Let's see how this one goes." It went well!!!

From where Ean and I where stood directly infront of Mr Eyeball the crowd seemed to be really into it, so not sure where you lot where standing. Fucking great night, even though Mrs Sarc didnt quite know what to make of the Howling Willie song and Im thinking she wasnt listening properly as she kept woindering why I was doubled up in hysterics while that song was on.
However I have to say I completel disappointed with Laika Dog, to me they seemed like a glorified pub band, they could play I'll give them that and where tight as a gnats chuff but seemed to be missing that something that would have kept me interested.

seemed fairly busy to me. its a reasonable size venue especially for a sid e project band with a setlist that could be fairly varied.

there wasn't much jumping around, granted but every song got a great big cheer.

Great gig, great times, great company = great night out!
got to see Mrs Sarc(nee Denise)'s dinosaur impression finally. got to hear a lot of very cool songs and one outrageously funny "cover". got my cd signed by the man himself. got a new t-shirt. got a picture of my eye taken in extreme close-up. got drinks bought for me. got video'd by a besuited bassist and completely failed to avoid sounding stoopid.
I need to do this more.

An excellent night! Heard some of my favourite Ginger songs played - particularly enjoyed 'Drinking In The Daytime'. I think it was quite a respectable sized crowd and everybody I know enjoyed the gig. I thought Laika Dog were a great choice of support band too, and they seemed popular with the crowd.

The band were great but I was suprised at the opening track (Why cant you be normal) as its a bit start stop.

great gig though and i bought The Great White Monkey CD.

I thought it was awesome... Though the rest of the audience did seem to be a bit hard to impress at times.

I'm sure some of you noticed me - I was dancing like a loon by the RHS bar. Would have liked to get a bit closer to the front, but I might have got beaten up if I'd tried "busting my moves" there... (My neck didn't recover until Monday, I guess I'm getting old). As for "best selling", Winchester was sold out (sadly, as I was going to go to that one as well), but that's a tiny venue. 120 capacity according to the website.

Laika Dog were great too. Bought their album (well, one of them) on the way out...

Forgive them Ginger, for they know not what they miss!

Of course, there were some attendees that, sadly for them, did not own either the latest solo slice of genius, or anything by Ginger, or indeed Howlin Willie & SG5.

But let me tell you - being a late 30-something, you've got an excellent record collection, been to loads of great, memorable gigs, love quite a few bands, genuinely, who never disappoint.

you don't see the need to be that vocal anymore about your approval - and enjoyment - you save that for the bedroom!

The 'kids' might still feel they owe it to the bands to scream their lungs out, and be high visibility, in case their heroes are in any doubt they are truly worshipped.

But people like me, and there were plenty of people like me at that gig, just did their thing, enjoyed the show, just didn't have a need to jump around and shout their approval.

We're quite dignified really.

The truth is, I was at the front, the side, near the bar, and at the back for that gig, and EVERYONE that surrounded me was having a great time and had nothing but respect for Ginger, and marvelled at his latest outpourings.

You don't have to make sure you "don't go unnoticed" to have been part of a gig. It's what you go away with that counts.

and the people going away from that show were in no doubt -

Ginger and his band were on fire, the set was fantastic, sound was crystal clear, and as much as the Wildhearts are my fave band of all time, that was the BEST GIG I'VE EVER SEEN GINGER PLAY.

just to show support for Ginger.
