WH Tribute Album: Accepting Applications

Started a fresh thread for the purpose of consolidation.

We need project coordinators for the purpose of listening to, critiquing and ultimately accepting musical contributions, as well as deciding on artwork submissions and possibly recruiting more musicians... generally just getting ball rolling and keeping the ball rolling.

We also need more musicians, preferably whole bands capable of recording or individuals who are capable of either recording entire songs themselves or collaborating with other musicians across the internet. Remember, folks... we're holding this to a high standard, so give it all you've got.

We also need artists for cover art and stuff.

Someone with some higher audio skill would be welcome too, to handle the final mastering of the tracks.

I dont mind helping on a panel in anyway that i can...

Musicians (full bands or self sufficient):

]I will be contributing several songs to choose from. So far I've complete one demo of Vanilla Radio and and have everything but vocals done for one of Caffeine Bomb.
Other songs that it's likely for me to demo are:

I Wanna Go Where The People Go
Nita Nitro
Anthem
Sick Of Drugs
Weekend

But no one should consider any of these to be off-limits because for me studio time is free and I'm doing these as much for myself as for the tribute album.

The Barefoot Experience from Brisbane would still like to be in with our Beatlesy version of Jonesing For Jones. Yeah?

Just restating my band will be recording Urge for this (and crossing our fingers you all like it ).

I shall be recording a somewhat different take on Give The Girl A Gun.

My lot, Captain Mildred, have done Headfuck, Red Light Green Light, Suckerpunch, Pump It Up, Someone Who Won't Let Me Go, Cheers, She's All That and Vanilla Radio over the years.

i'm thinking i might try and get their three fastest songs (suckerpunch, shut your fucking mouth, and S.I.N.) and make some sort of medley, but whether or not that works, put me down for doing suckerpunch anyway. like i said though, it'll be november-ish time before i'll have it finished, what with not having uni-studio access during the summer hols.

Actually, it'd be nice to do something different. Put us down for Everlone. (ulp!)

I am "way down" to do this. I move into my new house next weekend and I'll be setting up my "studio" in the first week of being there. Still not sure what I'm gonna do at this stage, I need to review the whole back catalogue and choose something appropriate. And without solos.

I'm just about to go into the studio to record Urge & Abhoria.

Musicians (collaborating):

(Anyone in this category needs to be able to either collaborate physically by joining other members in a proper recording environment or digitally by recording their parts and sending them to others across the internet.)

im more than happy to record some guitar work for the album, if there is ayone from around the staffordshire area (cannock) or surrounding areas i dont mind meeting up for a jam or recording session, feel free to pm me if your interested in meeting up for a jam,

i can play lodsa wh songs.

I can contribute some musicianship to others' projects if needed, including guitar, bass, drums and background vocals. I want to avoid doing lead vocals because I'm already contributing my own full songs. Also, it should be known that any drums I provide are only sampled drums programmed by me. I can only contribute digitally

Artwork and Layout:

I'll help in putting some artwork together, if someone with design talent wants to do the cover I'll happily do the rest of the boring bits of the inner booklet/CD sleeve etc.

just out of interest, when's the proposed deadline for finishing this tribute thing? because i'm off uni until the end of september, but when i go back, i'll have a full pro-tools equipped fancy studio at my disposal to record a song or two, which i'd love to do. is oct/nov gonna be too late, or is this gonna be a several-month project?

I don't see a need for a deadline at this point... but I'm sure that will be up to the folks who step forward to coordinate.

I'm not a designer but I do work in print and packaging for a living so if someone has a concept I can put it all together and make it print-ready.

And yes, we could use more musicians... but the drawback is that everyone has to handle their own recording.

If it were up to me, I'd say keep it strictly Wildhearts... but I'm not in charge. If we did include the other stuff, I'd say we should called it a tribute Ginger and The Wildhearts.

Great title... but I feel "Show Me A Hero" is better.

"Headphuq'd..." would be a great WH tribute record of all deconstructed versions of Wildhearts material. (complete with clean, acoustic renderings of Endless Nameless material.)

Yes yes. Whatever you can offer. Just put everything you've got into it, in terms of both performance and production.

I dont mind helping on a panel in anyway that i can, unfortunatley noy a muso (well not a good one anyway...lol) but have a pretty good hear and a diverse musical taste. Also anyone thought of asking Eureka Machines if they would consider doing a wildhearts cover? Chris has played with Ginger a couple of times and he lists the wildies as a major influence.
If we get this project up and running, how do you plan on getting it released? through Round records maybe?

Nuno, might be a good idea to keep a list of folks and what they have offered to do in the first post for quick reference.

I have asked A,P&S if they are interested and unfortunately the answer is no; Eureka Machines would be a great inclusion.

Also trying to get this released on Round was something I was thinking of as well would be very cool.
