Are you serious?! The getting-the-crowd-to-sing-the-song thing is about the oldest trick in the rock'n'roll book - I take it you've not seen the Scarborough DVD? Shortly behind it is getting-the-crowd-up-on-stage-with-us. I suggest you ask some of the people who got to do it whether they think they were being used?
Had the mic been set up properly, it would have swung without falling over. Christ knows why they set them up like that, but it wasn't Ginger's fault - hence his puzzlement when he came on and tried to adjust it.
There frequently aren't any encores at acoustic gigs - there's no point, it only wastes time. The only reason to go off after a set is if you're shagged out from running around and in need of a sit down and a drink, and the acoustic gigs are hardly what you'd call energetic.And then to top off the gig we didn’t get one encore and not even with the crowd in full singing voices with ‘Don’t worry bout me… summed Ginger up in Worcester.
