Really good forgotten about albums

Postby DangerousBeans » 10th Feb 08, 18:34

Everybody has some.
Whether it is on vintyl and you now can't find on cd or torrent sites etc..

It was a drunken discussion i had last night of albums we would like but can't find.

My selection was

Freak of Nature by Freak of Nature
Don't come Easy by Tyketto(although i did find it on a Torrent site earlier

I had totally forgotten how good Freak of Natures first album was.. :( now you can't get it.

I don't know. Maybe it's just the voices again?

Or indeed any of their albums that aren't Grave Dancer's Union. I had to go to Hong Kong to get hold of ...And The Horse They Rode In On on CD. Ok, it wasn't necessarily the purpose of the trip, but it sounds impressive.

b*movie heroes - anthems for the underdog
bitch magnet - umber
jawbreaker - dear you
therapy? - semi-detached
daredevils - hate you (admittedly a two track single, but the only release from brett gurewitz' (bad religion guitarist) mid-90s side project)
throat - knievel is evil
IF THERE'S A SOUND YOU PLAY THAT DOESN'T FIT TODAY,
WHY NOT JUST PLAY THE BASTARD ANYWAY?!

They were quite easy to get around the time of Grave Dancers Union as well.

I've got Grave Dancers Union,Let Your Dim Light Shine and Made to be Broken on cd.

I love hearing albums I've not heard for ages. A break does you good, especially if it's an album you listened to a LOT! Recently I've rediscovered the joys of:

Skylarking - XTC
Machine Fish - Galactic Cowboys
Time's Up - Living Colour
Station To Station - David Bowie
Backstreet Symphony - Thunder

They have enough b-sides and soundtrack songs to make another album, it's a shame they havent done an album like that yet cuz the b-sides piss all over the album tracks and the album tracks are phenomenal, check out Gone Forgotten or their live version of Do Anything You Wanna Do, its fantastic it's taken me since 1996 to get all their non-album tracks together so when I finally managed it my life became complete although don't tell Mrs Sarc that cuz she'll only start moaning.

I find it amusing that The Horse They Rode In On is being championed cuz as much as I love that album that was the only one I had any trouble getting into everything else hit me straight away but there was just someting about that opening track that made it slightly off putting, but then i got my act together and fell inlove with the rest of the album, Brand New Shine?

Quality album, and it's just reminded me that i loaned mine out about 4 years ago and i miss it, production's lovely on it. Shame they never managed to get the follow up done - unless anyone knows of any demo's of songs from the second album?

Did it all end quickly because of the Stranglers?

I'm not sure, I've had about 3 copies as I keep lending it and not getting it back. I have no idea where my current copy is. I've no idea what happened to them, they did a cover of some song or other then vanished.
