pre NYC show get-together?

Postby manowarfan1 » 19th Mar 06, 03:18

Okay - there's gotta be a get together before the NYC shows - right? Where is a good place to go (locals, any advice?). I think the HoJo I'm staying at is 1 mile from the venue (not sure in which direction) - so when is everyone arriving in town? I get in on the day of the 4th around 5 or 6 Eastern Time - will have time to dump stuff at the hotel and begin the festivities.

Come on everyone - where are you? Roll call of NYC attendees? Anyone else staying at the Howard Johnson?

Don Hill's has a fantastic bar- you could meet there. Also, Jesse Malin's bar Niagra is nearby too. The doors at Don's at at 7pm so I wouldn't risk missing the boat- that room will fill up FAST! Get there and claim your "area", hahahah! Actually, Don's has two bars!

There are at least five of us (so far that I know of) driving in from Pittsburgh. We'll arrive Tuesday late afternoon. We're thinking about checking in (at the Holiday Inn on Lafayette), grabing a quick bite, and heading straight to Don Hill's to try to get in close to doors open time.

A local NYC friend who works for Matador records informs us that Don Hill's isn't too bad for hanging out (due to the two bars.) And we all know it's going to be packed if the last NYC Wildhearts show was any indication, so I want to get there early.

Now, as for afterwards...? Where's Kitty been? She knows the best after-show hangouts. And where will the band be hanging?

Oh, and of course we're staying for the second night, too.

I guess we'll need to devise a signal for recognizing other US forum posters/Listees. Any suggestions?

After show hangouts are either Manitoba's or Niagra. A lot of people just stay at Don Hill's because it is so cool in there. Great DJ's, great drinks and atmosphere.

Bat signal?

Postby manowarfan1 » 21st Mar 06, 18:59

Being as we'll be in Gotham it'd be cool if we could use the Bat Signal - how about something like wearing Wildhearts t's? No? Too obvious LOL> I can't wait to be walking around (or depeingin on if I'm behind schedule running) around NYC and see some other people wearing WH shirts :)

So far it is looking like a case of just get to Don HIlls' as early as possible. Does anyone yet know what time the doors open? What time G&SC go on? There won't be any opening bands will there? I'd really rather get an extra long set - since the US shows are ew & far between (and we only got about 45 minutes of WH in Phoenix opening for the Darkness) - after the show more than made up for it though :) Got to speak with Ginger in the smoking area for a while - then ended up going out with CJ & Stidi for several hours - I think my hangover is starting to wear off LOL

How about wearing a bat? Not a live one, mind you, but maybe some kind of plastic, stuffed, or other type of bat attached visibly somewhere to one's clothing?

Doors are at 7PM. Don't know what the stage times are or if there is/are opening act(s). If I had a vote for a sort-of local warmup act it would be Gito Gito Hustler andThe Spunks opening. Can't beat Japunk rock fun leading up to the Sonic Circus. But I think they're still out of town on their own tour. Maybe Turbo ACs could do it? Anyway, here's hoping for maximum Ginger stage time!

Yes, doors are at 7pm. If you bought your ticket via Pay Pal there will be a "list"- you will have to show your ID to prove who you are, etc...
There will be an opening act both nights. The second night will be "Michael H. and the Bashers"- the first night is still to be determined.
Ginger can play as long as he wants- I'm sure he will do a nice long set.
My advice is get there as early as you can to claim your "spot"- there are a few tables and booths but it is mostly SRO- standing room only. There are two bars, nice bathrooms and the place has just been remodled. It is a great place. I think it was the last issue of Blender???? that had the article on the "MisShapes" party and there were tons of pics of Don Hill's. 8)

Hey Ginger's Elves-

You seem to be pretty in-the-know about Don Hill's. I have a question that my husband e-mailed to Nicki Camp, but we didn't get an answer yet:

We bought our tickets via PayPal, but it's through our business account (which is in our business name, not our personal names.) I assume from using PayPal that the order came through under our business name. Of course we have personal ID, but what ID can we use to prove who we are for the will-call tickets that are under our business name? Will a business card with our business name and our names on it plus our personal IDs do it? If you don't know, who can I ask to find out what I should bring?

Thanks in advance,

A would assume a business card and your ID would do it. Don't worry- if your names are on the business card that bares the name of your business, that right there is all the proof you'd need.
Don't worry- there will be someone on the door that will keep a watchful and keen eye on the fans. If you have your proper ID, your purchase number/code from Pay Pal and a business card with your names- that will do it.
See you there! 8)

Great! This will be my eleventh time to see Ginger live, and aside from the first time in London, the NYC show was the greatest ever. I know this is going to rock like only New York can and I can't wait! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!

I'm on Ginger's USIGP myspace page. If you're on there mention it and maybe we all can meet somewhere. Looking forward to meeting you!

I've got to attend a national sales meeting, so I'm gonna miss the shows. If I can't go, nobody else should be allowed to either. Cunts, the lot of you.

At least I got to see the Pogues twice recently.

pre-show meet up

Postby kerswelld » 29th Mar 06, 06:57

hello,

i'm new to this list (but have been on the yahoo mailing list for a while).

i'll be coming up to the 4th april show all the way from new jersey, so hopefully i'll meet up with some of you lot in the bar at don hills, unless there's some other meeting place before the show. is there?

btw, was there ever any tickets for sal online for the april 5th show? if there was i must have missed it somehow. i'm sorely tempted to come back up to the city for the 2nd night.

as ginger himself might say: "it's gannin' to fookin' rock, man".

cheers,
doug

Hey, tickets for the APRIL 5th Don Hills show are NOW on sale thru the Don Hills website..

www.donhills.com just look under the tab marked calendar, go to April, and click on the GInger & The Sonic Circus link for April 5th.

A limited number of "pre-paid" tickets will be available for this show. There will be tickets at the door, however, quantities are not guaranteed.

We have a US Street Teaming Effort in place to get the word out for these shows (and hopefully some future gigs).

Please come and visit us at www.myspace.com/usigp

See you at the show(s)!
