Social Distortion

Shame on me, but I have just got hold of some Social Distortion and really loved it.

Got the Sex, Love and Rock N Roll CD, I am now going to buy some more.

Which are the best albums?

Just last night I... ahem... acquired the entire Social Distortion back catalogue. So far I'm particularly enjoying 'Somewhere Between Heaven & Hell' and the self-titled album. 'Prison Bound' is also cool - it throws in a few country-ish sort of tunes (if that's your bag, it certainly is mine) - kinda Johnny Cash style stuff. In short, for someone who'd never heard them until today, they're growing on me rapidly.

Yeah, '...Heaven & Hell' is probably your best bet but if you're a Wildhearts fan (and you obviously are) you can pretty much take your pick of the albums and you'll find something you like.

I don't think you can turn your nose up at Mommy's Little Monster either.

I've got a particular fondness for Sex, Love & Rock N Roll. As per everything yer puritan SD fan would say that's it's a too poppy record and doesn't reflect the true nature of the band (yawn) but anyone with ears will form their own opinion.

I like a good old fashioned melodic record. :)

Supposedly a tour is coming soon. They're doing America currently and then (theoretically) going worldwide.

Oh yeah, 'Mommy's Little Monster' is cool as well. I'm still ploughing my way through them all, but so far '...Heaven & Hell' is my favourite.

As far as what the puritans think, I couldn't give less of a shit if I tried. If I paid any attention to those kind of people I wouldn't get nearly as much enjoyment as I do from the sheer range of different music that's out there. My three current faves, Wildhearts aside (those being Strapping Young Lad, Antony & The Johnsons and a mixtape of rowdy Bay Area hip hop) shows exactly where I stand on received notions of what a rock fan 'should' listen to.

However, I have been mightily impressed by Social Distortion so far, I just can't find enough hours in the day to listen to everything, which is suprising for an insomniac dole-mole such as myself!

White Light White Heat White Trash is an amazing album. There's a hidden track, a cover of Under My Thumb which pisses all over the Stones' original.
