Ginger date in new york

Postby Chris Davies » 2nd Mar 06, 20:49

just reading through myspace and happily saw that there was a bulliten from ginger and it is as follows :

GINGER ANNOUNCES NEW YORK CITY SHOW , APRIL 4TH, DON HILL'S!!!!!!!

www.gingerandthesoniccircus.com

PLEASE READ THIS MSG FROM HIM AND REPOST

Hey all....I am happy to announce that me and the Sonic Circus are coming to NYC to play a show on April 4th. The show will be at Don Hills.

Can I ask you all for a favour?

I've been dying to test out the capabilities of myspace, so I would like you all to PLEASE do something for me.

Can you send everyone on your lists the news that me and the new band are playing the NYC show on April 4th, at Don Hills?
And ask them to forward it onto everyone on their lists?
And everyone on their lists to forward it to everyone on their lists?

Let's see if we can sell this thing out real quick.

If this happens then the internet is going to be my main source of retail and information.

I really want to see how effective this place is compared to the old medium of spending a fortune in adverts and old fashioned publicity.

C'mon, what you got to lose? If you do this you could be seeing a lot of my music becoming available, compared to how we usually do it, and plenty of sold out shows!

I will let you know how we all did!

Ginger x

Great news i must say for our american friends

Cheers
Chris

Marvellous news, but the date does not show on the venue calendar. Anyone have any idea when the tickets go on sale and where?

Thanks

Yes, anyone know? From the looks of the Don Hills club website, ticket presale might not be something they do.

Any New Yorkers on here know Don Hills? Kitty, perhaps?

Is the second show at Don Hills, too? Or another venue?

Ginger posted this as a bulletin on myspace

TICKET'S AVAILABLE!!!..... TICKETS AVAILABLE!!!..... TICKETS AVAILABLE!!! ......TICKETS AVAILABLE!!! .....TICKETS AVAILABLE!!!

NEW YORK CITY SHOW, APRIL 4TH, DON HILL'S!

Tickets for my New York solo debut at Don Hill's are now available.

You can get them right now at www.donhills.com

Let's sell this show out and add another on 5th. This would be the perfect way to introduce the solo album in America. You guys have worked so hard to make this album a success in UK, let's make it international!

Can you please re-send this bulletin to every friend on your page, with the links to my myspace page and the official website. Hey, do it daily....make it a habit!

I got my tickets last night. And it does seem that Don Hill's tickets are PayPal only, and that tickets will be held at will call (not mailed out.)

Has anyone ever been to Don Hill's? How big is the place, anyway?

Don Hill's is one of the coolest clubs in NYC. A perfect showcase room and an even more perfect sound system. It will be an EVENT! It holds about 400 people. It is located in the West Village at Greenwich and Spring Streets.
To order tickets via the site, go to www.donhills.com and hit on "calendar". When you get there you will see the month of March, hit the arrow forward to go to April. Hit on April 4th, Tuesday- Ginger & The Sonic Circus and it will take you to a advanced purchase option. The Pay Pal method is to avoid the awful enormous fees imposed by ticket agencies AND so that people under 21 that may not have a credit card can also purchase advanced tickets. The Pay Pal fee is only $1.50...
I have been to dozens of "events" at Don Hill's. The Pay Pal system works- it also saves you a couple of bucks. Day of show or door is more. It is also more if you are under 21. You must be over 18 though to get in.
Don Hill's does a night called "MisShapes" that has become so successful that the last issue of Blender Magazine did a muti page story on the venue. It is really one of the best hangs in NYC. It also has two bars.
I'm going to the Yeah Yeah Yeah's record release party there later this month. They don't list all the things that go on there- it will sometimes read "private party" for various things.
The reason why they are doing the advance sale option for the Ginger gig is because of demand. People want to make sure they can get in. If the first night sells out in advance, there will be another night added on the 5th.

Ginger NYC

03/06/06 (antiMusic.com )

Wildhearts frontman Ginger will be playing a rare New York City show next month. Ginger announced this week that his new solo band Ginger and the Sonic Circus would descend on Don Hill's on April 4th.

Ginger and company will be making the long trek from the UK to promote his new solo album Valor Del Corazón, which was recently released by Ginger's own label, Round Records.

We had the chance to speak with Ginger a little bit about the band and the upcoming show. "The band is my new dream solo project," Ginger told antiMusic via email. "My favourite players all on one stage. Jase Edwards ( ex-Wolfsbane ) who mixed and mastered my new solo album, is on guitar and harmony vocals, Jon Poole ( SilverGinger 5, The Wildhearts, Cardiacs ) is on bass and harmony vocals, Steve Spring ( The Mission ) is on drums, although we hope to feature Texan boy Joel Loper, who played drums on the album, we have female backing singers, percussion and piano/keyboards to make the sound even more huge."

Ginger looks forward to returning to New York City, "I love NYC. There's even a song on the new album, 'Mother City', originally written for a Village Voice charity record for 9/11, all about my love for this magnificent city," Ginger said.

"This is as excited as I could possibly get with my trousers on." Tickets for the show just went on sale this week at the official Don Hill's website ( www.donhills.com ) and the show is expected to sell out quickly. In an online posting there was a mention of a possible second show on April 5th, but that has not been confirmed at press time.

You can hear selected tracks from Valor Del Corazón on Ginger's Myspace page. And UK fans can details about a ton of shows happening later this month.

HOtels nearby?

Postby manowarfan1 » 10th Mar 06, 18:10

Okay - where should everyone coming in from out of town stay? Anyplace nearby? Organize a goup of attendees in one place? Anyone need to split a room? I'm (mostly) housebroken, friendly and for the most part harmless :) Coming in from Colorado - I think thru LaGuardia (so far) - holding off on buying plane tix until I know if there is going to be a second show - might as well see both if I'm gonna travel 2000+ miles and skip out on work, right :)

Any locals have any advice - or any fellow travellers need to split costs?

You might as well come because there WILL mostlikely be a second show- that is really up to YOU, the fans--- the more tickets sold the sooner they will list the 2nd show. But Don Hill's is holding the 5th. It is Ginger's night. Throw caution to the wind my friend.
If you need an affordable hotel in a great neighborhood near the East Village, etc..., and not far from Don Hill's--- there is the Howard Johnson's Express Inn on Houston Street in Lower Manhattan. Toll free number is 1-800-446-4656
or the direct number which is
212-358-8844
This hotel is also near Niagra- the cool bar that Jesse Malin owns, St. Mark's Place, CBGB's- all of the downtown landmarks.
I would book now because the longer you wait the more expensive stuff gets. In advance is the way to go!!
Good luck 8)
