I've been thinking of srarting a similar thread - just without the "discuss"

Listening to Yoni I think that Denzel is utterly fantastic. In some songs he just makes it.

I love Ritch, I love his Industrial rhythming and his tight as fuck powerful live performances and for the Wildhearts he is perfect (Ritch doing Vanilla Radio is gorgeous).

In some songs Denzel reminds me of Travis Barker for his intricate beats which is something I don't think we've had with Ginger before. There's a song on Yoni where he really uses the open and closed hihats to really good effect. It's very rare that i listen to specifically the drumming on a song over the music and lyrics but Denzel is one of the few drummers that has made me do that.

I would say yes, he is. And this comes from a staunch Ritch-er

EDIT - the above might not be clear. i think Denzel is best. I just think Ritch suits the Wildhearts. Which wasn't actually the question.....

Gotta say, it's not often I'm at a gig and I'll turn to my mates and comment on the drummer, but I did at the blackpool gig. The guy's fantastic.

Cant comment on how good all of Gingers drummers have been but I do know that Denzel is by far the best drummer I have ever heard - especially live! How many drummers grab your attention like him, hes another front man - behind the almighty GINGER of course.

We have seen him at Glasgow and Bradford, my partner who is a musician has drummer friends who actually travel to gigs just to see him whoever he is playing with. According to the GDW myspace he is only 21, much younger than Gingers other drummers I would think.

Its like watching 2 different drummers perform when he is with the Whores and then Ginger, one kick arse tight, the other flash and verty technical, but both powerful and solid.

Sorry, but I dont think Ritch can compete with Denzel.

Stidi is punk. Ritch is rock. Denzil is technical and could probably do just about anything. All are ace.

My personal favourite is Stidi. He's a fucking animal behind the kit. For me the aggression and passion more than make up for his lesser technical abilty.

Aye the drumming on Yoni is very good but does anyone remember the guy who played on the first few Sonic Circus gigs? Pete Spring I think he was called. He was really good - v funky drumming. It was a shame he ended up doing his back in.

Regarding Rich, I've said this before but he is capable of playing other styles. The Axiomatic EP by New Disease is a great example of him doing more expressive drumming on songs that have a lot more space. I still reckon that Rich is better suited to that style of drumming, whereas Stidi's frantic punky drumming is better suited to the Wildhearts.
