Ginger's son is called Jake. He's said in the past that he'd never write songs about his kids - although he got away with Only Lonely cos it's fairly ambiguous.

Ha ha ha ha ha - when I read the song title 'Jake' I though, oooh er, middle aged man writing songs about his kid.....we all know Ginger is of course Officially A Genius, so...(crosses fingers) pleasepleaseplease be a good song!!!

If the last 3 songs are live, does that mean that Little Bit O Gravy has been/will at some point be played live, in order to be able to be recorded live....

I'm pretty sure ...Gravy was played every night on the last (less and less) acoustibollox tour.

I'm only guessing that they're live tracks as my Japanese is a bit rusty these days. :wink:

It just seems odd that they'd stick the studio tracks on since both VDC and BLM (and probably HWC) are available in Japan. They used to use B-sides as the bonus tracks on the WH albums 'cos the singles didn't come out there.

I'd also imagine they won't be on the UK release.

'Better Than Cable' is about Jake. Ginger told me so; partly to break the awkward silence after I'd randomly sung a fragment of the song to him in the Glasgow Barfly whilst I was generally busy making a drunken twat of myself. Hee!

Apart from a fair chunk of his recent output, Ginger absolutely never writes songs about his kids. :wink:

I'd never connected the 'Little one, well it don't get better than this' line before. See, ambiguous lyrics are fun.

Abso fuckin lutely not to be compared to Brandon! To these ears, "Jake" is the greatest "ballad" that Alice Cooper never wrote and recorded. That's some serious accolades.
