It might be a good song(according to some) but I hate it.

I love that, even more now than i used to, just love the live version - esp the one on WHSB album.

There's lots that I didn't used to like, but after seeing them live now think are wonderful. Beautful Me, Beautiful You and Show a Little Emotion are two that fit that category. As are Jonesing for Jones and Getting It.

Agreed. Caprice is my mate's favourite and I never took to it as a recorded track. The more I got to hear it live, the more it grew on me. Top tune.

Interesting, cos those metal/jazz/noodling bits keep me interested, cos otherwise I think the Wildhearts would be yet another competent, but pretty dull brit-rock band. Nothing groundbreaking or challenging, just a bit bland, in the same way you say Top of the World and Only Love are dull and bland.

I know that it sounds a bit contradictory that the songs I least enjoy don't really trade on that stuff: I love the 'song' bits of 'Sky Babies', Drinking In The Daytime' etc., but can't honestly profess to love the metal interims. On the other hand, my least favourite Ginger songs simply have dull 'song' bits - no compelling essence to them. IMO and stuff.

Yeah, the metal bits in Drinking in the daytime rock soooo hard! Some of the riffs that Ginger and co. has come up with over the years are amazingly dirty and just downright RAAAWK!!

Examples are:

Action Panzer
Junkenstein
Turning American
Shitsville
News of the world (middle part)

There's loads more but I can't think of them just yet!

Sick Of Drugs has always been overrated in my opinion. It's alright, I suppose.

Funny, I always heard that as "Life, has teeth, and bites. Don't feed it open hand."

No, I don't play. Don't get me wrong: when I talked about complicated time signatures (whether the technical term I used is correct or not) I was actually trying to say that I think the skill and discipline involved is admittedly impressive.

But nevertheless I often feel unmoved emotionally (though not even by all instumental parts of those songs). I could probably have some appreciation of the dexterity of the world's greatest bagpipe player, but it doesn't mean I'd necessarily enjoy what I was hearing on an emotional level (despite being a Jock :) ).

What can I say? Ultimately, I'm a melody whore .

There's a great Funkenstein motherfucker of a riff that pops up a couple of times in Drinking In The Daytime (I think it's just before the 'I won't repent' section, and again just before it goes all marvellously Quo at the end,) but I'm quite aware that I'm just sitting waiting for those bits to come along, if you know what I mean?

I see what you're getting at. It's cool beans, all we're doing is agreeing that we like different parts ofthe same songs. Which kinda rocks!

Ok so it's a bit harsh to point out my least favourites when he has produced so much glory, but anyways......

1. Endless Nameless/stop thinking - a bit different and no my cup of tea.
2. L.O.V.E
3. Too many hippies
4.Action Panzer
5. Lovebank - probably my least favourite

It's interesting to hear others opinions, but others mentioned - Monkey Zoo, Lake of Piss especially are two of my all time favourites.

Variety is the spice of life.

Ginger has never really put a foot wrong for me apart from the 'Must Be Destroyed' era single b-sides and 'Top of the World'. If any of those were the first Wildhearts songs you heard, you'd wonder what all the fuss was about! Oh, and 'Blinded by Absinthe'- proof that drinking lots of absinthe does not necessarily inspire great art!

And 'Endless nameless' still rules.

I never interpreteted 'Your Mouth' to be about beating women. Knowing Ginger's stance on domestic violence I reckon he meant 'beat' as in verbally defeat.
