Does it matter if no one's heard of them? And at any rate, if you hang around music-nerdy places and people, you can usually end up with a decent conversation about a band. I think a lot of people in the rock music community have heard of the WH, anyway.

no 1, course it matters if no one's heard of you whats the point of writing/releasing music if no one's gonna hear it
no 2, ok people in the rock community may have heard of the wildhearts but few (bar the people on this board) could give two shits about them
let's just accept that they're never gonna be any more than they are now at this minute which is a massive shame and i do hope i'm proved wrong
oh yeah and what a complete waste of time a "wildhearts vs metallica" thread is on a wildhearts message board....... i really didn't expect the majority to favour the wildhearts

Ok, I've gotta call you on this steaming pile of bullshit.

1. It doesn't matter whether 5 people have heard you or 5 million. You think Ginger does this hoping to wake up a millionaire someday? If the music is in his head and his heart what choice does he have but to record it? Lucky for us he's shares his gift with us!
2. I know a hell of a lot of people who aren't on this board who give a shit. They give a big enough shit to not publically diss a band they say they love.
3. The true fans have accepted long ago that whether or not the band ever becomes world famous thats good enough for them, We're along for the ride either way!
4. If you don't like the metallica vs the wildhearts thread stay out of it. Problem solved!

What's the problem? Aren't you secure enough in your music choices to tell the haters to piss off? Your kind of negativity gets around you know, Knock it off.

I have to address point 1.

As something of an artist myself, I have to say that exposure is always high on the list of priorities. Wanting your art to be experienced by as many as possible is only natural and not at all the same as wanting to become a millionaire. It might not be the same for all artists, but judging from what I've heard Ginger himself say, he lives in nearly constant frustration over the fact that he can't get his music playing on more people's stereos. He appreciates his fan-base for sure... but he's still fighting the good fight to get out there where everyone can hear his words and chords.

Well I can't speak for Ginger's frustration level, only he knows that. But to say "what the point if nobody's going to hear it" is garbage. The point is he has to! He's an artist, not some flavor of the week bending to the whim of every trend. We're lucky enough to see the mans soul every time he picks up a guitar, if some people don't get what he's about then fuck 'em! Instead of bitching about why more people havent heard of him why not do something about it? I've converted many people, it just takes a little work sometimes!

Of course every artist wants to know that people are listening and appreciating whatever it is they do, but Ginger's going to keep going whether we're there or not. Might as well jump on the train!

well said , michelle. of course ginger wants people to hear his music - but he doesn't exactly go down the mainstream pop route does he? do clam abuse, howlin willy, supershit 666 etc sound like attempts at gaining a wider audience?

stop the negativity. ( please)
why do i have to ignore you to get your attention?

I don't think Nig1012 was being negative.

in fact, it was kinda positive in some ways.

(disregarding that) I see no way of the wildies getting some mainstream exposure without cutting off their balls. And even so, no fucker would listen.

The music rocks. And i truly hope that if we hold our heads high, walk like motherfuckers and just rock like we always do, if our rock qotient is not fulfilled then?

Let us turn upon each other and rip ourselves apart like the misguided dogs we are.

I'll keep strumming. I know that much. Balmy dreams of rock heaven are soneone elses baby.

PS Every time i hear of them releasing a single or alubum I am buying every copy plus copies for may mates, If they charted I would be as happy if not happier than any ne this board. drunk. byw.

I just get so tired of people bitching about how nobody's ever heard of the wildhearts. WE'VE heard of them! It's everybody elses loss as far as I'm concerned. If you're unhappy with the state of music today and what you hear on the radio doesn't satisfy you----GET UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Figure out a way to spread it to the masses. If it's so important to get the wildhearts heard, then the work will be well worth it. Let's be positive and talk about the things we can do, START A REVOLUTION!!

firstly its not negativity its frustration but probably badly worded but the "what's the point if nobodys gonna hear it" quote must also be felt by ginger other wise why else would he have said on the last tour at some venues "if we're gonna be playing places this size then we're gonna split up" or something along them lines. yeah he's constantly writing so we're always going to hear ginger material in various styles and with various musicians but the wildhearts must be his no 1 priority the 1 project that he'd love to see succeed in a recognition sense.

Another take on this would be, if The Wildhearts were as big as say U2 or Coldplay, they might be just as bland and as boring as the aforementioned by now.

I reckon that a lot of bands when they hit the big time, they lose the passion and ability that got them there in the first place. It's the constant struggle and frustration for recognition that makes Ginger the songwriter he is today- a damn good one.

I think you guys are taking this a little too seriously, all the bloke is saying is that he wants the 'Hearts to be more popular. Don't we all?

Lets face it, we're all getting older, the Wildhearts torch should be passed on to the younger generation so they can come and join us at the gigs too. That's simply not gonna happen without the 'Hearts becoming more popular.

What if audience figures start dwindling (as seen in Bristol over the past few years), venues have to get smaller, less tickets sold, less money back to the band for all their hard work, you all know where this will end - another split.

So come on, stop battering each other (we're all on the same team) lets spread the good word instead!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

I Don't think anyone's really battering each other, I'm just saying that it makes more sense to stay positive and talk about what we can do to get the Wildhearts name out there rather than bitch about what we think the band is doing wrong. We're fucking wildhearts fans , man! We can do anything!

For the record, my eleven-year-old daughter is a huge fan of Avril Lavigne, Green Day, The Ramones and The Wildhearts,
