Leicester tonight

Postby Ross » 17th May 07, 14:00

I'm going... I can't wait. Should be packed, and please please please let the Wildies be bringing their own soundman... I remember Ginger's comments about feedback Phil at the last acoustic show.

The Charlotte is an odd venue, but it should be loud as fuck and sweaty as hell.

Wish I could make it up there. Hopefully, the band's high spirits and very good humour will carry over from last night. Must admit, I haven't found 'em particularly loud during this tour.......pardon?

Since this is the last night, will be interesting to see if there's any surprises or if they come out and continue with the sonic and physical blitzkreig (sp?) that has personified this tour.

Feel the love!!!

Really looking forward to this - gonna be odd having the tour end in the second smallest venue of the jaunt. Probably won't get down there before doors open anyway, but where's decent nearby for a pint these days?

Leics be 'avin you!

Depends what you're after... Firebug on Millstone Land is big, plays indie/rock music, but the beer's shit. If you want a proper pint of Ale, the Criterion, just round the corner from the Charlotte is alright.

Nah, after a day at work pretty much any crappy ol' lager'll do for the first pint. Well, even then I'd probably avoid C**liing.

Just got back from the sauna (can you believe there was no cloakroom - I've seen the Charlotte use the upstairs room for it loads of times before!) - fine gig, that. Like Nottingham, there was hardly any between-song banter, just up and on with it. Only two newies again, and 'Rooting...' was held until the encore.

Went past the bus on the way back to the train station and noticed a crucified Tweetie Pie in the windscreen!

Wow! That was pretty cool. Fucking hot though... Really just a sweatbox.

GU Medicine I liked the sound of, like a heavier Clutch. Definitely head-nodding.

Sign were bob... Sorry, but it's not 1989 and when you're ripping off a band blatently, you don't cover one of their songs. Poor.

The Wildies were tight as hell and relentless. Barely a pause for breath, and there wasn't much air in the place. To me it seemed the cheers for the newer songs were bigger... Ginger moaned about the small venues again and said they'll be back playing bigger places. I was fairly near the front and managed to get a setlist at the end (my first Wildhearts one!) Great to hear Nexus Icon (it rocks live!) and there was a great singalong going for the whole set. Rooting for the Bad Guy sounds ace when you're shouting your lungs away.

I think I sweated half my bodyweight!

Totally agree....it's been the revelation of the tour for me. Was never really that struck on the studio version, but the third dimension brought about by the live environment has catapulted it way up my list of live must hears.

By the way, dunno if it was just 'cos of the size of the venue, but the 'Don't worry about me' singalong was one of the best I've witnessed.
