Great gig at Newcastle. Must say Scott was amazing. he brings a new leash of life to the band. Him and Ginger interacted well. Odd moment: when the gig finished they both fell over in an OTT comical manner.

Edit: heres some photos of the gig.

On the subject of not playing many songs from 'The Wildhearts' on this tour, I was chatting to Scott before the Manchester gig an he said that they only played 'New Flesh' on the first night because all the vocal harmonys stopped them from jumping arround and they kinda just had to stand there still, so even though it got a great reaction they decided it slowed the energetic pace of the show that they wanted to bring to this tour (hence the little crowd banter)
Scott also mentioned that he begged "Ginge" (as he calls him :) ) to play The Hard Way and Bi Polar Baby but he said again all the harmonys blunted the energy and in rehersal they decided to only use Rooting as it really fires up the crowd after the interval and Revolution as they are concidering this as a future single ( :D ) and the harmonys are not as restrictive.

Now thats the anal stuff out the way, Scott is an instant legend! How incredible does he look on stage! Quite poss the best carrear move ever made was for him to join the 'hearts me thinks

On another note it may be bad news for Oxford (at least i think he said oxford :?: ) fans as Scott told me about the blowout Karaoke party they had after the gig there that involved a number of expensive items being trashed in a Tesco Carpark! He said the next morning his tour manager woke him an said "good time last nite? congratulations, you have gotton us banned from a city!"!
Not shure exactly what to read in to this as he seemed to be a little tipsy whilst he told me but can any body shed some light on this :?:

Last but not least he informed me that wilst he and CJ had been drinking like troopers, Ginger has infact kept to his word and despite temptation from all sides managed to remain completely clean on this tour. I think its great that a genious like him has realised that all he needs is whats inside him and dosent need drink to get through. I tip my invisible hat to you Mr Ginger sir :D

An all this happened before i even set foot in to the venue........ 8)

does this mean they`re NEVER gonna play these songs live as the harmonies blunt the energy

I sincearly hope not but as Scott said, they all wanted a certain 'relentless energy' feel to this tour that Bi Polar and Hard Way dont fit in too.......I think its mainly Ginger and Rich's desion as to the set and Ginger is a man that dosent do things without reasoning behind it so maby more new songs are a possibility on the next tour but on this one i think they just wanted to show they could still kick some ass and still have the energy to be relevant to todays music scene......just my 2 pence :)

That said, i would have given my fourth-finger to hear Hard Way at the Manc show..... Oh well

Hopefully it just means they don't fit with the vibe they're trying to create on this tour. I'd imagine it'll be different next time (and everybody'll be word perfect on the lyrics so we can do the harmonies for them :D).

Remember that it took about five tours for the number of TWMBD-era songs to get where it is now. The first time they played three I think (Stormy, Vanilla Radio and Let's Go, if memory serves). Things'll get moved around and find their place I'd imagine.

That said, it is a little disappointing that they didn't pick one or two as definites and rotate the others to at least try them live... :?

Magic post, my3dtvtan, it's answered a lot of my questions but left my mind racing too...

Not to be picky but I certainly don't see why Sweetest Song wouldn't have worked - I'll give you there's some severe harmony in there but it's not constant so there's plenty of head down rocking/jumping around like a loon space during the riffing.

But, who am I to criticise? I had a blast, so I'm happy.
