Yeah, it is an overreaction, but let's not forget that the guy (if it is indeed him) suffers from a severe mood disorder. I have a friend who is manic-depressive, and he says that at his lowest moments he can feel utterly worthless, while at his 'highest'/most manic he feels an almost conteptuous superiority to others around him.

That reply could conceivably have come from a person in either kind of state. Or maybe just a guy who thinks his new album is the absolute giraffe's tits. :)

I agree there, being a mild bi-polar bear myself.

Currently coming out of a up-phase and not really looking forward to the next few days.
Plus I have also given up the bottle, for some 'kin stupid reason.

Fair enough, I didn't know he was bi-polar

And to be fair to him he did apologise for his outburst that time and actually went into details about why he snapped so viciously, I won't repeat it but he had every right to be down that day. I suppose you never really know what people are going through in their personal lives.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that maybe we should leave the discussion of Ginger's mental health to private messages...just sayin'...

Agreed. Sounds like a good point to close the thread if a mod's on hand.

There's nothing very private about this:

I agree, Ginger has made no secret about it (I didnt know he was bipolar but knew about his mood swings/depression). I agree that we shouldn't discuss every aspect of his personal situation (which is why I wouldn't repeat stuff he'd said in private messages) but stuff that he's talked about in public obviously wasn't meant to be kept private...

The issue of the alleged myspace message should not be dwelled upon for too long. The music should be the main focus on here and not salicious gossip, as I don't think none of us will know will truly know the context IF there has been a disagreement between Ginger and someone else.

However, I still believe people should have the option to discuss it, as after all this is discussion board. And I think that over the course of this thread, the subject about manic depression and bi-polarity are two valid points which have been raised.

(Personally I couldn't give a monkeys about the whole thing. I'm more concerned that Glen Roeder hasn't signed anyone for the Toon - apart from some yank soccerball guy - and the squad is bloody knackered. Perhaps he should give me a call. I can do about four keepy-uppies........)

Ben,
You should have seen it tonight, it was worse at SJP than it was on match of the day, they didn't show all of villa's chances or superiority for long periods of the game, we were lucky tonight, and I don't mind admitting it!!!

Many people talk frankly (and bravely) about issues like this, where it affects their lives in general. It doesn't mean we should be discussing the minutiae of particular instances on here.

Anyone reading this has probably had a bad time in their life at some point. And I'd imagine the majority would be prepared to admit that, whilst not wanting the details of it plastered over the Internet.

The original matter was unfortunate and is now closed. Delete the thread.

It's one thing to discuss mental illness in general, but quite another to be discussing the mental illness of someone specifically. Especially when we dont even know if he really wrote that response to the band of dillholes who wouldn't know good music if it jumped up and bit them on the asscheek.

I got a private message kinda similar to that one when I posted a message on the old Wildhearts board suggesting Ginger's solo stuff was way more exciting than bringing out the 'The Wildhearts' again to cash in on the name and the band they used to be. The message told me I was a cunt, that The Wildhearts didn't want fans like me and that i should fuck off- signed 'The Wildhearts'. I don't believe for a second that it was from the band, and this latest message was not written by Ginger. He's far better at insulting people than that!

Considering 99.9% of the messages on Ginger's myspace page are (quite rightly) full-on praise or kissing his arse, that one little negative comment would never be worth getting that angry about. Myspace comments can always be deleted too of course.

One thing I've noticed about Ginger is that one day he will take critism really well, even laugh about it and insult the giver in a sarcastic but hilarious way....other times, if he happens to be in the wrong mood he will jump on the same kind of critism in a very aggressive and nasty way, I've had a laugh with Ginger before and I've managed to really piss him off before with the same kind of comment. At the end of the day however he seems like a good bloke and he's always there when people want a shoulder to cry on and there's not many people that would lend a shoulder for a complete stranger.

This post has really moved me, in a way.

Don't want to respond in detail as at the moment it's all just speculation.

If I'd received a message like that, and it was from Ginger, then i think the very foundations of what i considered to be reality would be utterly rocked.
