My top three bands are

1. The Wildhearts
2. Carter USM
3. R.E.M.

This is my default list if anyone asks what my top three artists were, but then it could change by the day. Full list of bands i am into on my myspace page.

Radiohead are top of the tree for me!!!

Then it's a fight for second place between:
The Wildhearts
Nine Inch Nails
Primal Scream
Manic Street Preachers
Queens of the Stone Age
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Super Furry Animals

It all sort of depends on who has an album out at the time, though. Everyone but the Scream have released material this year so they've pretty much all been my favourite at one time or another in recent months!!!!

Tons of other shit too; Daft Punk, Chemicals, Gallows, MBV, M.I.A., Mary Chain, Holy Fuck, Warrior Soul, Charlatans, Ian Brown, Hives, Bluetones, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Underworld, Eagles of Death Metal........I could go on........
Did you lie to us, Tony?

I sit at the pop end of the spectrum definitely. Love a load of stuff with spurious WH connections like Jackdaw4 (and old stuff like 3 Colours Red/ Honeycrack). Other favourites are Cardiacs, Silver Sun and Clearlake, whose site I run and they could hardly be more different. Also relatively 'indie' stuff like Brakes, Belle and Sebastian and things like that.

And Metallica.

I tend towards what some have called power-pop but variety is a wonderful thing.

Jellyfish
They Might Be Giants
Redd Kross
The Posies
Sloan
Silver Sun
Journey
Tori Amos
Rufus Wainwright
My Bloody Valentine
Lush
Faith No More
Galactic Cowboys
Jason Falkner
Delays
Led Zeppelin

This list could go on a while...

Metallica
Faith no More
Queens of the Stone Age
Kyuss
Led Zeppelin
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden/Cornell
Rage Against the Machine

This is a firm list, but there are many others, like COC, Terrorvision, Reef, Skunk Anansie, Machine Head, Muse, and many more, that pop on and off the list at very short notice.

These are the sort of bands i might expect a lot of wildhearts fans to also like, ones I might recommend to wildhearts fans and certainly bands i'd associate in one way or another with the wildhearts if i listened to them:

Backyard babies
Buckcherry
Gluecifer
Baby chaos
Therapy?
Hellacopters
Rancid
Silver sun
Beautiful creatures
Terrorvision
Hardcore superstar
3 Colours red
Randy
AC/DC
Turbonegro
Guns 'n' roses
Motley crue
Tokyo dragons
Metallica
Yo-yos, honeycrack and other dodgy side-projects and spin-off bands

On the other hand i'd hope wildhearts fans are a lot more open minded than that and have more varied and eclectic tastes which incorporate everything from jazz to blues to dark metal to hip-hop etc :)

Right, let's see how this works then...

Backyard babies
Don't really like em.
Buckcherry
Can't stand em.
Gluecifer
Never heard em.
Baby chaos
Never really liked em.
Therapy?
Love em!
Hellacopters
Don't like em...
Rancid
They're ok, not great though, more a knock-off of The Clash.
Silver sun
Never really hear em.
Beautiful creatures
Who?
Terrorvision
Love them!
Hardcore superstar
I think I heard one song by them. It was bob.
3 Colours red
They're ok, nothing special really.
Randy
Don't know them.
AC/DC
They've got one or two great songs. And a hell of a lot of filler.
Turbonegro
I've got one album, but I only listened to it a few times... They're a bit of a joke band for me.
Guns 'n' roses
I love Appetite... I don't really like the other albums.
Motley crue
I think they're shit. But Dr Feelgood's a good tune.
Tokyo dragons
Never heard them.
Metallica
Favourite band ever.
Yo-yos, honeycrack and other dodgy side-projects and spin-off bands
Yes for Yo Yos. No for Honeycrack. I never liked CJ's side-projects. Too weedy.

I think the problem is, The Wildhearts get lumped into that whole "sleaze rock" scene, and I would rather shave my balls with a cheese grater than listen to the majority of that style of music. I grew up in the 90s, I loved grunge and American alternative music, and a lot of the britrock scene, The Wildies happened to be the best of the Britrock bands.

On the other hand i'd hope wildhearts fans are a lot more open minded than that and have more varied and eclectic tastes which incorporate everything from jazz to blues to dark metal to hip-hop etc :)

And you'd be right there! :)

If you've not even heard of gluecifer or tokyo dragons and don't like hellacopters or backyard babies at all I wouldn't even remotely expect you to appreciate that list.

You love terrorvision but think AC/DC have "1 or 2" great songs?

Sadly you sound like exactly the kind of moronic tasteless fool I was hoping wasn't really among the wildhearts fanbase.

Those bands are bands I listed because "in my opinion" they fitted the thread title to some extent. I could have added a few more obvious ones like beatles, stones etc but then everyone likes them not just wildhearts fans.

And the wildhearts do fit in to the whole sleaze rock scene. Fuck knows what "britrock" scene you're thinking of with whom the wildhearts would be considered contempories. Only "britrock" bands i can think of to lump them in with are terrorvision and the manics. Possibly therapy, although they're arguably more underrated and unpopular than the wildies.

Imo bands like buckcherry, gluecifer, hellacopters share far more of the imaginative, fuck-you attitude, big riffs, catchy melodies and funny/biting/scathing lyrics with the wildies then metallica do, or tequilavision?

Anyway, my final point was the important one, in that most of that list i barely listen to anymore. I appreciate there are some fantastic rock songs by many of them but I just like listening to more individual, newer and more inventive/varied stuff at the moment. The final point is also the reason I've taken an instant dislike to you as the only two bands you were positive about are coincidentally the two most popular, poppy, uninspired, "sell-out" (tho i don't like the expression usually I think it fits those two bands perfectly) bands on the list, hence I doubt you actually fit the bill of my wishful thinking final thought on open-minded fans at all.

Good day!

Ps. i'll check the site in a week or two. Looking forward to the angry bitchy comments from assmask and whomever else always picks apart my every post on here :)
