THE WiLDHEARTS AT SONiSPHERE

PostPosted: 17th Jun 09, 11:02

"Gutsy rockers The Wildhearts will join the bill on Saturday 1st August. Since frontman (and former Quireboys member) Ginger formed the band in 1989, The Wildhearts have performed to fans around the world, setting new standards for substance abuse, crude behaviour and generally living the rock ā€˜n’ roll lifestyle. Ahead of their upcoming UK tour, they have chosen to join the line-up at the home of British rock, Knebworth. The incredibly addictive rock of hit singles including Sick Of Drugs, I Wanna Go Where the People Go and So Into You will whip fans into a frenzy in the summer heat of Sonisphere."

Oh bugger. If only Sunday had Metallica, Heaven & Hell and The Wildhearts on the same day then I'd be seriously tempted.

I'm so happy about this, it's completely unexpected! If only they'd got Jane's Addiction on the bill as they were trying, I'd have my favourite three bands of all time on the same bill, oh well... As someone who already has a weekend ticket I'm pleased they're playing Saturday, as that day's looking a bit, well, rubbish for me. I'm not sure how big 'Bohemia' will be, it certainly won't be as much exposure as playing on one of the main stages, but hopefully they'll pick up some new fans.

Oh piss. I'm only going on Sunday. The line-up for Saturday was shite. Well, it still is apart from the WH...

Woo! (and indeed) Hoo! Really wasn't expecting this, i hoped and dreamed but really didn't expect it. Here's hoping they don't clash with H&H, Anthrax or Skindred. Any ideas as to where on the bill they'll be??

The updated poster has them as the last of four bands on the top line, which strangely puts them on the Sunday side of the poster even though they're the only band on that stage with their day announced. So it seems certain they're either headlining or second on the bill. I hope this means they get a good length set.

Considering the early announcements about Bohemia, I guess it's a possibility they'll be playing after the two main stages have closed, e.g in the middle of the night, so anyone considering buying a day ticket and getting public transport home may want to wait till they know a bit more.

The bands for the Bohemia Stage are listed in alphabetical order on the posters. :)

It's hard to know for sure whether the fact they are separated at the top means that they are at the top end of the bill, or just that they are being flagged up as new additions with the other three bands added today. :?

Music on the Bohemia Stage apparently goes on until midnight, then the other bits and pieces until 2am.

Bollocks - I'm only going on the sunday too. I feel sick about that.

Oh well, boo for me....hooray for the Wildhearts!

What a fuck on with festivals these days. Why can't there just be one stage, less bands and everyone facing the same way. Just like it used to be and still should. Rant over. :x
