Wildhearts/Ginger songs, that bring memories flooding back

Postby mindslide » 16th Apr 09, 19:47

From 1992 to the present day I have so many memories (good and bad) that Ginger penned tunes have brought into my life. Thought it would be interesting for everyone to share theirs as well. I'll start of with this one.

'So into You' : And yeah, I know it was penned by CJ as well.

Anyways, one day I was down the gym and through the noise of intense training I heard the aforementioned ditty playing on the huge video screen. I Immediately stopped running and went flying off the back of the treadmill. With a graze on my arm and my pride damaged I then stood in the centre of the gym and watched what remained of my first viewing of 'So into You'. :D

my first listen of "Fishing for Luckies" was on a long train ride from Boston to Birmingham - i remember seeing a storm in the distance which lasted the entirety of Sky Babies, so now, as well as UFOs, that song makes me think of badass thunderstorms and trains.

Sick of Drugs was playing on Radio 1 (single release getting actual genuine Radio 1 airplay!) when I woke up one morning. I was lying in bed, half asleep, trying to work out what that familiar voice was in the room, singing a song I hadn't heard before. My sleep-addled brain was totally confused by this voice I knew from somewhere coming out of the radio, I just couldn't place who it was because that part of my brain was still asleep. I thought it was someone I knew because it sounded so familiar. This is probably because I listened to Earth vs on a constant loop at the time... Eventually I got it. The Wildhearts are on Radio 1! THE WiLDHEARTS ARE ON RADIO 1!! thought I. Finally, they'll get some recognition and become hugely successful like they deserve to be, thought I. Sadly I was wrong. But it was a very nice way to wake up.

Suckerpunch CD EP

Bought it the day it came out, first release i had bought. Was still at school and a bunch of us skipped class and went to Our Price up the town centre to buy music. After buying it we went into Dixons to look at steroes and one of my mates put the Suckerpunch CD into a stereo and turned it up LOUD!!!!!! Needless to say we all got kicked out haha but i'll always remember that tune and associate it with skipping school......good times.

i'm pretty sure he means the single. 4 tracks is more or less an EP.

An extended play (EP) is a vinyl record, CD, or music download which contains more music than a single, but is too short to qualify as an LP. Usually, an EP has around 10–28 minutes of music, a single has up to 10 minutes, and an album generally has 30–80 minutes. Mini-LPs generally contain 20–30 minutes of music.[1] In the United Kingdom, the Official Chart Company defines a cut off between EP and album classification at 25 minutes length or four tracks (plus alternative versions of featured songs).

Suckerpunch CD length - 17 minutes 5 seconds

I rest my case
