Wildhearts Cds you didn't buy?

I have a pretty good WH collection but I have never bought - "The Works" or Japanese version of "The Best of..". I also do not own "Riff after Riff.."

Are there any good reasons to get these albums? I read in the other thread that 29 x the Pain is remixed on "The Works" so that has peaked my interst a bit, but it looks like a cash - in from a record label? Does Ginger see any money from this album? (I assume he must get some royalties?).

Anyone else missing cds from their collection like this?

only ones i'm missing are EN (working on that one though...), anthem single tracks, the works, and tokyo suits me. and most of the singles - i only buy the ones who's b-sides aren't on the second disc of the japanese best of.

i nearly bought the works, but there's only two or three tracks on the whole lot that i don't already have on cd (and i have mp3s of them anyway). might wait til it's dirt cheap on amazon second hand in a coupla years.

The front cover of The Works is awful isn't it; the band look so goofy in that shot.

The only ones i haven't got are the rarer items, like riff after riff, moodswings and roundabouts (though i wouldn't mind owning this), the Japanese Best of, which i wanted for ages, but that's kinda past me now, i do own 'The Works' just cos i thought i'd be ace to have all pre EN stuff in one place. The only downside is that it's not got 'two way idiot mirror' on it. Oh and i'm missing the EN singles on Vinyl so i'm missing 'He's a whore' and 'Lost Highway'. So the Anthem import CD wouldn't go a miss either!!

My most valued posessions are:

Mondo Akimbo 4 track CD (how rare is this exactly).
Don't be happy just worry 2cd edition (4 tracks on each CD).
Drumstick signed by Stidi, Jon Poole, CJ and Ginger.

Not that anyone was asking like......

Yes it should be akin to the Moodswings box with Lyrics etc. But it'll do for now.

Unless mine ears deceive me, the mix on most of the tracks on The Works sounds shinier and sharper than the originals. Unless I've just dislodged some wax recently without noticing?

The band are my absolute favourite band of all time ever, been to see them more times than i can remember, got a smileybones tattoo etc...., but i dont see the point of getting something unless it has new/unrelesed tracks on it. The most important thing is the music and thats what i collect. I don't care for the best of or the works or whatever other collections. I want stuff i haven't heard before and thats what interests me. I'm not even that big on live records either but i did get strikes back.

Saying that there's nothing wrong with collecting everything a band has ever released and i respect those that do but you wont catch me doing it

Just gimme the music man!!!

I can understand that viewpoint and to an extent I agree, which is why there's certain cds I don't have but as they are my favourite band and I'm only short a few cds, I almost feel like I might was well get the whole collection (or close to). I wouldn't bother with any other band really.

Then there's the Moodswings set which I think is a really nice collectible, I have never played the cds, but it's a nice rare item to own.

One thing I'm not keen on is when the band have put exclusive tracks on vinyl, what a pain that is.

I agree totally. It does sounds sharper than the original CD's. Remastered??

I have all The Wildhearts & Ginger UK studio releases plus a couple of Japanese imports & the UK vinyl exclusives. The Honeycrack album is also a belter.

I wouldn't buy 'The Works' because it looks like it was put together by chimps & for the sake of another cd it could've been complete - Bastards!!! The best of the Live cd's is 'Grevious Acoustic Behaviour'.

However, moving away from what is commonly available to out-take boots and stuff....Anyone else apart from me ever noticed some of the very early demos are at the wrong speed?

Try downloading Audacity (Freeware) and upping the tempo a notch - You'll see what I mean! You can convert yer old 7inch's and stuff using it too.

i've actually picked that up since i posted that - it was about a tenner on amazon, but it's in absolutely perfect condition. and weirdly, there are days where i think it could be my favourite wildhearts album!

The case on mine was slightly cracked (might have happened in the post) but that's easily changed and the actual CD and liner are mint. :D I might try blowing up the speakers in my car with it this week.
