OK, so in view of the feelings expressed on this thread, what would you like to see on WH.com?

Whose sites do you look at and think 'I like how they do that'? It doesn't have to have a flashy (or indeed flash) interface, just a site that's well done with the right content.

I think they should put up the WH vids, i know they're on youtube in varying quality but finding them all from the band itself in chronological order would be good. Might get sued by Warner/EastWest? Well so could anyone. Or at the very least, proper links to the existing ones.

Possibly getting rid of the features section, the last 'feature' was in '05. Or update it.

Discography of the band, in full, and possibly a discography of each member (e.g. C.J. - Jelly's, Honeycrack, WH, Solo). Not sure if you'd want to do all past WH members too, it'd take a while wouldn't it.

I don't think lyrics before Vanilla Radio / Must Be Destroyed should be up there too, it adds to the wonder of the band, for not knowing every single word to the songs (Still a bit patchy myself on Inglorious) adds to the mystery.

Oh and it's a definite yes from me on sending this board to the main site.

Well that's my bit.

Content is king. That is all. The frontpage shouldn't have tour dates from last April in New York. It can look as flash as it wants and if it isn't updated it may as well stay as it is...

Agree completely with Damian. Needs more original content, whether it's provided by the band or by 3rd parties. Was a time when Ginger wrote stuff frequently for the website, and I used to really enjoy the Ginger Says articles. Don't get me wrong, times have changed, and he's now got 3 kids and all the rest of it, but would make so much difference if he started writing regularly again.

The tour diaries were very cool as well!!

The web page needs to be updated frequently, and should provide us, the fans, a means to communicate with the band........none of this myspace / facebook shite! Lyrics, tabs, vids, audios, WH store. The update of The Almighty's webpage is nice. As the coolest band on the planet, The Wildhearts deserve the coolest webpage me thinks.

If this board is moved to the main website though won't it loose it rankings on certain topics on the search engines.

I think updating the site would be an improvment. Oh and can you please buy the Domain name WWW.wildhearts.com. I keep typing the bloody thing in and ending up on a dodgy strap-on and lubricant website. I am not joking either

It would for a while until the system caught up, but we wouldn't just abandon this to dead webspace, there'd have to be a forwarding link posted at least until the domain expires this time round (not that long according to whois).

I can't imagine wildhearts.com would give it up without a fight. Especially with all the traffic they get from 'accidentally' misdirected WH fans - Especially someone not a million miles away from you who's bookmarked it for the future... Oops, victimisation again. Image

Not to be too pedantic here, but the band is called THE Wildhearts,

Failing that, have you tried bookmarking the site?

I guess a quick friendly email to wildhearts.com asking if they'd put a notice on their site saying if they are looking for the band, then they should redirect to this site (it doesn't need a banner, cos then it'll be seen that the band are endorsing that stuff, just a notice at the top of the page)

Myself, for an idea as to what to put into the site, how about one of those family trees that just about every band has.
I can't remember who does them, but the best example I can think of is the Iron Maiden tin, that had the b-sides, at the bbc and the hammersmith gig from then Number of the Beats tour etc has one included.

Pete Frame. :D

I think there's something similar knocking about somewhere. I'll try to remember where I saw it.

I was going to suggest one of those rock family trees, but then I thought I'd seen one already done before.

I've just remembered where it was - on the sack trick website:
http://www.sacktrick.com/Family1.gif
makes me a bit dizzy following all of that!

I'm watching you fella!

I'm a member of a few forums and I'd say that the format of this one and others that use Simple Machines are the most user-friendly. Apart from the ones that don't let you edit your posts... grrrrrrr

As for the website itself, have to agree with those who have said up to date and regular information is key. I have also mentioned previously that I've found the background (old!) stuff on here really informative too - so perhaps a chronology of the band and it's members; it's off shoots, break ups, make ups, achievements ... It might be an infringement to ask for personal milestones (the years that children were born, moving in/out of the country etc.,) to be included, but knowing what an artist is experiencing at a certain time this can often give an insight in to whatever they are working on. Or does that just make me sound nosy? Image

Of course I have vast amounts of discography information that the web guys are free to use as soon as they're ready for it.

I'd like to hear more from the band, maybe a diary of the recording of the new album would be good, or just the odd bit of information to build up anticipation.

Interviews with the band would be interesting cos I never often bother going to other sites to read/listen to interviews, but if it was on their own website I would sit and read it.
