WiNTER TOUR 2008 REViEWS

Right, I'm a long-time lurker and rare poster who couldn't be bothered to think of a decent username when I first posted, and I'm just back from the Sheffield gig.

I had to go on my own, as although I have a big bunch of lovely mates they lack musical taste, so I struggle to find wildhearts fans amongst them, and the few who said they might keep me company were put off by the ticket price. Which was a shame, 'cos I saved half a g of my birthday charlie for this gig and so had to have the lot myself!

First of all, that's the first gig I've been to since the smoking ban - it was quite strange.

Tragedy must not be missed - make sure you get there early enough - you'll know what I mean after you've seen 'em. "A" were pretty good, although I'm unfamiliar with their music.

Set-list was (with apologies for any omissions and I can't remember the order of songs):

Vanilla Radio (1st), someone who won't let me go, Everlone, caffeine bomb, sick of drugs, headfuck (teased us with intro to schitzophonic I think) Carmelita, Understanding Jane, Nothing Ever Changes But The Shoes, Love U til I don't, Red Light - Green Light, V-day, The Revolution Will Be Televised

But oh yes!!! they played Getting It (which I don't think I've ever heard 'em do live - it worked a treat) then finished with I wanna go where the people go

Venue was OK, it was the smaller room which was pretty packed although I believe it was originally going on in the big room but obviously didn't sell enough tickets. Ceiling was a bit low which distorted the sound a bit but still a cracking gig

Just back from Sheffield, took couple of hours.

Ended up in Academy 2 which was fucking awful in my opinion. Couldn't see shit unless at the front. Never saw Rich at all !! The room was full which I suppose is all that matters.

Was a blinding gig tho, worth the journey.

No V day, it was just in lust. As said earlier, Getting It was fucking brilliant. Only Revolution from the last (real) album tho.

Setlist was:

Aye, twas Just In Lust, not V Day.

I was impressed, it was like they'd gone through their albums and thought, right, what haven't we done in a few years.

Gettiing it was AWESOME. :)

I'm going to bed before I sober up.

What time did they go on stage? Oxford has a 10 pm curfew as well and my mates who I'm going with have appalling time-keeping!

That was bloody brilliant. I think I peaked too soon though, a bit too much jumping around for the first few songs cos for most of the second half of the set I was knackered. Glad I planned ahead and booked today off work......
How dare you!

Great gig, despite disappointment that they were moved to Academy 2.

Tragedy were brilliant, get there early enough to see them. There was a brief Spinal Tap moment as they wandered around the audience looking for the stage, which just added to it.

I hadn't heard "A" before but will definitely try and hear more of them. They were a little rusty in places, but the quality shone through, so they should be fantastic a few dates in.

The Wildhearts were fantastic, and Ginger looked pleased with the enthusiastic crowd reaction. The room seemed packed (and very hot) where I was standing so it's a shame they couldn't go in the bigger room. I took two friends with me who had never heard the Wildhearts before and they loved them - so two new fans!
