I think I finally get Inner City Overture!

....is it a stab at the U2's and Green Days of the world who act like they know everything and think they're big environmentalists/philanthropists, using their popularity to push their somewhat honorable agendas, but in being so open about how much the "care", end up looking kinda like holier than thou twats?

sort of with you on that, but more closely linked, imo, to Live8 and that sort of thing. i remember at the time he had a go at Live8 at one of his acoustic shows (St Albans?). When I heard ICO, that's immediately what sprang to mind - faux-concerned artists bleating on about fashionable causes of the day but never seeing what's going on in their own back yard.

yeah, actually what you siad is better, I just wasn't too good at getting it across. That's pretty much what I meant.

I always thought it was making the point that all these benifit concerts are meant to raise awarness of enviromental issues, but all the pollution and rubbish they leave behind is doing damage as well, but becuase the events are to try and stop this damage the damage they cause are overlooked.

That is a good point too. We could easily all be right.

Maybe I'll get a chance to ask them in New York...
