Crap! I used to come across this site on a regular basis and I used to want a few things from it but I wouldn’t order them because I used to think the site looked a bit iffy.....glad to see it’s not and I’m going to order things on Tuesday, yay!!!

At the risk of making myself unpopular....

Does anyone else think this is just a bit wrong? Many of these bootlegs are being sold for 5 pounds apiece. Some are less than that. But if you go to this site trying to order 4-5 things you find yourself up at the 18 pound mark just to have a few CDs burned and posted to you. CD-Rs are dirt cheap and to ship 4-5 CD-Rs doesn't cost a lot more than shipping just one so there is a lot of embedded profit in the 2nd-5th CDs so the seller ends up pocketing well over 10 pounds after expenses on sucn an order. Therefore, this is a for-profit site which is just wrong.

I'd like to point out that if you hunt around, you can get all of these bootlegs, or at least most of them, for free from the Wildhearts Bootleg Tree, which was started by Sid in 2003. All you had to do to get about 100 Wildhearts shows and a bunch of studio demos and rarities was ask someone who had them, and promise to burn them for the next person who asked. If asking a dead end part of the tree, (someone who had already received and burned for someone else) all you had to do was send them the 12 blank CDs it would take them to burn the collection. It was completely free, and built on trust and love of music.

Anyone who wants The Bootleg Tree is free to ask me. And if the owner of the site isn't out to make a quick buck off the Wildhearts' music, then he won't mind me telling you this.

Ok... it's not my site, but I do have this to say....

The whole point of the site being set up in the first place was to stop people having to pay a FORTUNE on ebay for what's basically a CD-R copy.

CDs are £2 each. (not a fiver) Don't forget there's always paypal fees and postage fess (not just the stamps, envelops too) but yeah, some profit is made. Not a lot, but some.

Also - I'd like to point out that it does say on the site that Dingwall is happy to trade shows for other shows he doesn't have. So, therefore in that instance, you'd be getting them free.

He's not out to make 'a quick buck' or anything, I can assure you. If he was - they'd be on ebay for a lot more money.

And as for the bootleg tree - I was on that. So was Ding. Neither of us ever received anything unfortunately, even though I was the 3rd next person to get the 'tree'. And after numerous enquiries to the list I had presumed it had died, which would be sad indeed :(

Also, there's the DC+ hub where you can get a lot of free stuff too.

Think about it though - both the hub and the bootleg tree are only known about by members of the list. And now the messageboard. How's someone who is not a member of either to get hold of rarities/live gigs? They do a google search, or a search on ebay. Surely it's better for them to be paying 2 quid through wildheartsbootlegs than a silly amount to someone on ebay who IS out to rip the band off??

And anyway - bottom line is that no-one's making you buy anything!!!
