My lot is me, Gary from Washington DC, Benny, and his mate Clark Lush, original bassplayer of Meliah Rage from Boston. Also I think Count is coming from London as I got him a ticket for the boat.

I want to meet all of you. I'm going to be at both shows the minute the doors open. I'm there for the opening bands, the drinks, the people, maybe meeting the band.... basically the whole experience. I'm thinking of getting some white tape and labeling myself a listee on the back so you can all find me. But if I don't... I'll have a black Wildhearts tee and jeans on, and So will Amanda. I'm 6'2" and she's 5'4" and blonde. We both look pretty "straight edge".

I have a feeling you and I will get along great, as we seem to be at the top of the heap when it comes to being unhealthily obsessed with this band. Keep an eye out for me. I'm 5'10" or so, with a fair-sized beer belly, black chucks, a black backwards Ramones hat and a goatee.

.........................................

We'll be heading up there early too to both shows for drinks, meeting people, etc. Heading out from London tomorrow for a few day in NY beforehand so hope to catch up with some of you guys at both shows.

Won't be back on the email till we get to NY City, so I'll sign in again Thursday afternoon to see if there are any meet up plans.

If there is some sort of pre gig meet up, feel free to email me at Jeeze625@hotmail.com to let me know :)

Cheers all and see you in the US of A!! :)

The new venue for the gig is located way North by Queens. I'll ask a mate of mine what might be in the area for a meet up spot.

That is not a bad Idea just to show up early, but I don't have much interest in the opening bands, so if there is another place around with tables and chairs and beer than I'd be happy to find it.

Also, a guy from Rocks Off just called me to confirm that I knew about the venue change. I asked him if the if a UK or Canada Driver's Lincense would be enough to get served on the boat and he said yes. He doesn't have control over the gig in Brooklyn.

The bigger boat leaves from 41st Street and West Side Highway. He said there is sign reading "WORLD YACHT"

Speak for yourself! I'm quite healthily obsessed, thanks very much!

I'll keep an eye out for you; that is, if we don't get a meet together sooner than friday night.

I am now in NYC. It's about 1 hour until the doors open at Club Edge.

If anyone gets this in time and there is a meetup, text or call me at 306-596-8487. Otherwise we'll just be at Club Edge.

Last night...

Postby Nomad » 20th Oct 07, 21:32

Wildhearts came on pretty late, after the 3 (or was it 4) support bands. Played a solid set, not so very different from the UK tour earlier in the year.

The promoter here did a great job, although his efforts on stage with a cowbell with both Generals and Majors and Children of the Unicorn were a bit more questionable. The venue was good, the people accommodating, the crowd was up for it, only my companions were a let down...the pair of friends I'd recruited to come see the show left after Children of the Unicorn(!), citing general unwellness coupled with fatigue from an early start that morning, and a fairly early start at the Brooklyn Brewery that evening... The wife complained bitterly through most of the first few songs and wanted to leave in plenty of time to get the last train. First train this morning at 5:13 was a bit of a bind, I must concede...

Ginger seemed to play the whole set with a big grin on his face. Big contrast with last show I saw Ginger play in NYC...

Got to go now to see the rugby on the way to the boat gig.

Good shows, both... though my own experience was marred by, at the first show, some apparent damage to the hearing in my right ear and, at the second show, fuckin' earplugs.

Got myself and my daughter some tee-shirts, both the "Destroy All Monsters" shirt.

Chatted with the band both nights, and got it straight from Ritch's mouth that filming for the video to "Destroy All Monsters" has just completed and has an S&M theme. There will also be an accompanying single, according to him.

Some craziness at the last gig between Ginger, Scott and the spikey blonde guitar tech. Ginger, for whatever reason, jumped back abruptly and cracked his amp to full blast, to the apparentl confusion of everyone else. The tech went over and turned it back down, with a look of concern on his face... and Ginger went and cranked it up again. When the tech went to turn it down again, Ginger grabbed his wrist and threw his arm out of the way and cranked back up for the rest of the song, the last song of the set. The tech kind of shrunk back to his corner with his tale between his legs. Then, as the song was wrapping up, Scott went into some theatrical convulsions and ended up on the floor on his back. The tech then, playfully, crouched over his head, earning him a punch in the nuts... and then before I know what's going on, I see a guitar land on Scott's face, only to see Ginger with no guitar. Apparently at the end of the song, Ginger gave his axe a toss and miscalculated the trajectory and gave Scott a nice gash across the bridge of his nose. Everyone seemed good natured outside afterwards though... though the tech wasn't really anywhere.

There's also a little bit of news from our own Seventieslord that I will leave up to him to announce.

Anyway, both of my copies of WH07 are signed by all members of the band, I got a picture with the band (possibly the worst picture ever taken of me), and then another with Ginger and my girlfriend.

Anyway... I've got a shitload of pictures from beside the stage at the second show. I was right beside Scott, so he's at the forefront of just about everything. I've also got video, from the same place, of Destroy All Monsters into Sick Of Drugs. It's shitty video though, and worse audio. Anyway... in case anyone wants the band shots, I can make them all available.

I'd also like to point out that I talked at great length with Scott the first night and a little the second night. He remembered my name and everything. He's a really, really great guy and is an absolute monster of energy on stage. If he, for any reason at all, ends up out of this band, I'm gonna personally give Ginger a stern talking to... because he's the best thing that's happened to this band in years. Because of him, the show was twice what it would have been otherwise.
