My lot, Captain Mildred, have done Headfuck, Red Light Green Light, Suckerpunch, Pump It Up, Someone Who Won't Let Me Go, Cheers, She's All That and Vanilla Radio over the years.

We'd be up for having a go - but it'll be good to get a better of idea of who's doing what, to minimise the risk of wasting studio time and money.

i'm thinking i might try and get their three fastest songs (suckerpunch, shut your fucking mouth, and S.I.N.) and make some sort of medley, but whether or not that works, put me down for doing suckerpunch anyway. like i said though, it'll be november-ish time before i'll have it finished, what with not having uni-studio access during the summer hols.
IF THERE'S A SOUND YOU PLAY THAT DOESN'T FIT TODAY,
WHY NOT JUST PLAY THE BASTARD ANYWAY?!

I've turned the second post in this thread into a list of people who've volunteered and the capacities in which they've offered themselves.

If I've missed you or made a mistate in the way that I've included you, please PM. I have only included the most recent volunteers because I don't know who is still around and interested and who is not. Anyone who is interested, but not listed, please make your intentions known now if you're not listed in the second post.

Musicians, if you haven't chosen a song or list of songs you're interested in contributing, please do so as soon as possible so as not to waste the time/energy and money of the musicians among us who will need to be using and paying for studio time.

This thing is finally starting to look like it's going somewhere.

Actually, it'd be nice to do something different. Put us down for Everlone. (ulp!)

Excellent choice. I've found that that's one that seems to catch the ear of the unitiated.

Have you ? I can't see it. Well if you have missed me I am "way down" to do this. I move into my new house next weekend and I'll be setting up my "studio" in the first week of being there. Still not sure what I'm gonna do at this stage, I need to review the whole back catalogue and choose something appropriate. And without solos.

Well, that's coming on very nicely!

Really like I Think I Can by the way, top stuff.

The bridge to that song, Do The Channel Bop, was quite a chore to figure out and tack down like that, especially for someone who plays strictly by ear. I'm not ashamed to say I'm a little proud of myself. I'm pretty sure that's the most complicated piece of music I know.

Thank you. "I Think I Can" is one of twenty or so songs I've written, but the only one so far that's gotten the proper treatment as far as recording. I'm almost afraid to tackle any of the others for fear of overdoing or underdoing them... or just plain fucking them up. That said, it's also one of my favorites out of what I've written.

You're not kidding - it's a mental section and you should be proud.

As you should be of your own track - it's made me want to hear more anyway.

I know (or, at least, dimly remember) those fears when it comes to getting stuff 'down'. But do it anyway - it's not like anyone has to hear it until you're happy. And often the process itself improves a song in ways you hadn't previously imagined.

Back on topic - the band are on board (although the drummer's wet 'em) and looks like we'll get in the studio in September for some Everlone action.

I don't see a need for a deadline at this point... but I'm sure that will be up to the folks who step forward to coordinate.

Looking at the comments where people have mentioned timescales, it seems like this is likely to come together later on in the year, after the Earth Vs show. However the Earth vs show would be a great opportunity to promote this thing (if indeed people want it promoting - correct me if I'm speaking out of turn here). Perhaps it would be wise to produce some flyers to promote it and to direct people either here or to a myspace page set up to tell them about this tribute project? We could hand them out and have some on the merch stall.

Ok I'm going to take my evil Machiavellian marketing hat off now. Whaddya think?

I think that sounds great, but I'd really like to see some more people step forward to take on the role of coordinator for precisely this sort of thing. Even if it's not a "panel of five", just anyone at all to kind of take charge. I'm really terrible at that sort of thing, and I'm really not in a position to be making decisions anyway.

So I finished tracking Caffeine Bomb today. Hee's the first mix:

CB - Mix 1

Edit: and here's the second one. I buried my vocals a little and threw in some distortion..

CB - Mix 2
