I may or may not have............

Here's a hint..................I have

I haven't sat down to figure it out exactly, but it sounds like a pretty straightforward progression. Fast-strummed single-notes for the verses and power-chords for the rest. I'd guess no more than five chords total. 1, 4, 5, 6 and 2?

Did you have to retune?

Excellent, I have found the song to be a real grower, at first I thought it was just alright, but now I can't stop singing it; I love the guitar sound too.

I cant echo this. The same feeling I had with Borderline too. looks like recent 'Hearts are all growers!

I think it's fine but having heard it 8 or 9 times I don't think I would be much affected if it suddenly disappeared forever. If I was told after the first play that there had been a distribution mix-up and it was some middling American band rather than the Wildhearts I'd probably have believed it and never thought about the song again.

Still, it might give an interesting contrast to other styles within the course of the album.

I had a complete brain fart when I typed that,I meant C. Basically the tuning as far as I'm aware for this album is

E down to C
A down to G
D down to C
G down to F#
B down to A
e down to d

Ahhh... well that's a relief. I was trying to picture what the strings would be like tuned that far down and I just couldn't picture it being playable at all.

That's actually my preferred tuning, except for the E down to C part. I like to go a full-step down all the way across, on a seven-string... but right now, because of the band I'm in, I'm stuck at only a half-step... which isn't terrible, I guess.

8) I've got the single & it's a grower me & GF both agree it has a very modern-american sound again (& it's not just Scott singing) something totally different to the last album which hopefully will get the band some air play, if any band deserves it these lads do.

I like the fact the band is being much more democratic & this will pro-long the life

I think it sounds more American because the chords are all pretty standard. English stuff, especially the Wildhearts, seems to not stick to the standard stuff... coloring within the lines, so to speak... as much as Americans do. At least that's the best I can come up with to describe that distinctly English feel that shows through in so much music over the years.

Even all the way back to early Beatles... you sit down and take a chord progression from one of those songs and compare it to someone like Buddy Holly, and you'll see that Holly's progressions are all pretty much "by the book" and the Beatles stuff would be a lot of stuff that makes you say, "Wow... how did they make that work? That should sound terrible".

If you're interested how the Beatles did some of the stuff they did, there's a great documentary about them on Youtube:

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6

It's about an hour long, but well worth a watch.
