Yeah it was a great show, not much talking which unsurprised me, but I guess with the curfew they wanted to play as many song as possible.

GU Medicine were ok, the Sign singer really wants to be Sebastian Bach from Skid Row though doesn't he, it didn't surprise me when they played a song by them.

And the T-shirts were a decent price rather than ripping you off, congratulations to the band for that.

Yeah agree was a top gig - I can't remember Ginger speaking at all which was a shame and kinda took away from the usual atmosphere somehow.

Still, top night, good to meet all of you.

Well he did say a brief thanks before and after the encore. Maybe he was just letting the music do the talking which I have to say it did very very well. I asked our bass player what he thought (it was his first time) and he said "quality" and was surprised how many songs he knew.

It was my "first time" last night and I thought they were brilliant.

Didn't think much to GU Medicine but Sign were quite good, the singer reminded me of a young Axl Rose lol

Wildhearts were brilliant, shame Ginger didn't speak much (or seem very happy at all) but trying to get as many songs played as possible makes sense.

Best of all we got to meet Scott, CJ and Ginger afterwards, Scott was lovely and really seemed to enjoy talking to fans (he was great on stage too btw, a proper 'wildheart'). CJ seemed a bit offish but I think that's because my boyfriend was taking ages to take a photo  and Ginger too was a bit quiet but was still great to meet him.

I've got some good photo's of the gig which I'll post later.

P.S. thanks to the man who gave me the guitar pick! you made my night! x

 If ever there was an error that deserves a huge "How dare you!"

Almost as bad as seeing Ginger in town earlier in the afternoon and not having a camera with you...

Scott Sorry is deffo a "wildheart", great performance welcome aboard Scott,
he comes across as the bastard offspring of Danny (miss you dude) and Random(miss u u nutter!!!), so that's a great combo!!!.

I thought the show in Nottingham was fanfuckingtastic but theres nothing else i can really add that anyone else hasnt already said.

I got to spend quite a bit of time with Scott after the show and he really is a top top fella he said he was worried about people thinking he was going to try and replace Dan and Pooley but from what Ive seen and the response hes been getting hes not been taking anything away from their legacy hes been adding to it.

The highlight for me was Scotts backing vocals on Nexus Icon where he sang the line "And if someones gotta die it aint gonna be me" sounding like an american Lesley Philips (or Jarvis for those of you who used to watch Newman and Baddiel in pieces)

Oh yeah did anyone else spot his little dance on the "Gotta be getting me more" section of Caffiene Bomb?
Did you just say "Pig Flute"?

Please welcome a new kind of Mod

Is the setlist changing through the tour?

Postby manicwildheart » 7th May 07, 15:49

As I haven't been able to make any of the tour dates, I was wondering whether the setlist had been changed as the tour rolls on. The original post seemed a little disappointing, so I'm gonna throw my opinions in, as I'm pleasantly bank holiday-edly stoned.
They should be playing Bi Polar Baby, and The Sweetest Song (or any come to that!) as well as the other 3. I don't think Ginger would deliberately hold back the new material due to unfamilarity, to me that would underestimate the listener and patronise the ticket buyer, new audience or old fuckin' audience. The new album shits bricks and it deserves to be heard. A Ginger project hasn't done this to me since satan created SG5!
I also have to agree with the guys who are getting a little tired of Everlone (great song and overplayed, so how about Inglorious instead?) Someone Who Won't Let Me Go & Top Of The World may be cool songs, but by WH standards? The TWMBD era is already represented elsewhere in the set. Oh, and wouldn't the Cheers theme be a welcome replacement?
Ok, I'm being a little critical here, considering I haven't even bought a ticket (not my choice!) so here's a positive for the people who think the setlist is 'safe'. me included :o)
There's no Greetings from Shitsville, no Love U Til I Don't, no Caprice, and thank fuck, 29x The Pain. All of these are superb, but I'm glad they've put 'em to sleep for a while.
One more point - Urge would've been cool - but who would've sang the verses? I've always thought of that as Jeff's song, same as Anthem sorta belongs to Danny.
One word. JUNKENFUCKINSTEIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rant over.

Right, being from Portugal and only atending one gig at this tour (KOKO'S) I want to give MS"NOGAF"O * too. I think the set list is perfect, and I wouldn't change it for nothing. All the songs they played are WH songs which is great cause there's no awful covers, cause they don't need them (Ginger shits superb music everytime he goes to the toilet). Once again: THE GIG WAS TOP, the songs they chose are all excelent and I sang all of them while moshing for one hour and something. And the excelent thing is at the end I couldn't remember half the songs that were played 'cause they were all linked to the next one. Thank god for that cause there was no blabling between songs Uffff!!! I only wished I could see another gig on this tour.

Ginger did mention in Wolvo he'd be doing an acoustic tour next year ..

I would like to see some more new ones in the set , but on past form they don't always mix so many new ones in -when so into you was released it wass only played at a few shows , and prior to 'Riff after Riff' they dropped 'Lets Go' pretty quickly , leaving only 'Vanilla' and 'Stormy' in .

I guess the thinking is they're re-aquainting themsleves with people who haven't seen them for 3 years as not everyone made Wolvo Xmas last or the Scarborough gig , and still underestimate the speed some of us pick up the new stuff . But of course they'll be new peopel who haven't picked up or even realised the albums out .

Would make sense to be playing ' the new flesh' to promote the next single tho , and 'the sweetest song' for those who bought it . Dropping Urge in would be good for those who liked EN and even win over a few who may not have got it yet .

The only one that i'd say could be dropped is 'Top of the World' - it feels a lot slower with Ritch playing , whether that really is the tempo or just a different sound , i dunno . Really glad to see Nexus in there tho !

When they've played it before , ( post Jef - Bulldog Bash , Warm Ups , Ginger@Marquee ) Gingers done the verses . Although he used to call it 'Jef's song' i think Ginger actually wrote it , so he's down with singing it .

Don't remember the mention of an acoustic tour but bring it on. As for the point about tempo, the thing with Ritch is he's so bloody good it's like listening to the drums on the record, tempo and all. The man's a machine! Stidi had kind of a 'looser' style; live, anyway. Both great players, though.

Agree about Nexus Icon. Ashamed to admit I'd forgotten just how good that song is. TWMBD has been played regularly since the gig. As ever, I hope to hear Urge next time.Oh, and after God knows how many times I've seen them, I've never heard them play Dangerlust. That'd be a great thrill for me.
