Crying over nothing lyrics

Postby Genius Penis » 12th Jul 09, 03:52

Hi, trying to lose my poster virginity here so lots of pressure (stop staring!). I was just wondering if someone could clear a misheard lyric up for me. In the chorus of Crying Over Nothing there's a line "There's a sun-kissed cloud over raindog holiday". Well that's what all the lyrics websites say. I've always heard it as "rain drop holiday" or "rained-on holiday". After all, what the hell is a raindog holiday!?

If anybody can clarify I'll be extremely grapefruit. Cheers.

Tom Waits released an album titled raindogs and it includes a song called raindogs..... he described a raindog as a dog you would see huddled in the doorways of New York after a heavy rainfall because the rain has washed away its scent and it cannot find its way back home.

.....that's all I can come up with!!

Thanks for the Tom Waits info. Rain dogged does seem to make more sense. That's what i'll sing in the shower from now on.

I always heard it as "raindrop holiday" and even when you learn the correct lyrics it's difficult to change what you have sung all those years !

That's very interesting actually. Love Tom Waits. Like the lyrics of Dylan and, yes, Ginger himself in a way, there's whole worlds of meaning and contemplation there to get lost in.

I've been singing "rained-off" for years, so I hope that's the one.
