Anyone else's AntiVirus software blocking TheWildhearts.com?

Postby Jason_scorching_past » 8th Jan 09, 15:12

My work PC isn't allowing access to thewildhearts.com saying the site contains - Virus Spyware Mal/Iframe F.

I looked earlier and noticed the menus had disappeared again.

Kris has had a bit of a fiddle under the bonnet and everything seems to be fine now.

Could you try again just to check at your end?

I visited the site early this week and my computer took a berky. I think there's something bad lurking in there.

Fortunately, this time it appears only to have been a bunch of dodgy Viagra links hidden in the code. Virus Spyware Mal/Iframe F seems to be an umbrella term for a whole load of different bits of dodgy code.

I don't think Kris will mind me saying, but the main site is in the process of being migrated to a different host which, with any luck, will sort out the problem.

If, however, it happens again and something a bit more malicious gets in (i.e. that pain in the arse Antivirus one), here's how to shift it :-

1. Go here and download Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool - Dump it on the desktop so it's easy to find. If your computer's already infested, and making doing anything a right pain in the backside, you might want to do this on a clean computer and bung it on a CD or a USB stick.

2. Restart your computer in Safe Mode, run the program you just downloaded, and pray it gets it.

3. Get a proper Anti Virus, a firewall and some good anti-spyware (I know, I know, but some people still need telling). There are loads of good free ones out there.

4. Turn on Windows Defender and automatic security updates (amongst all the other patches and gubbins, it downloads and runs the malicious software tool every month when the new one is released then deletes itself). If you want to know what it's installing, set it to request permission to install after it downloads anything.
