Where they mention in the article that Ginger would like acclaim from the press, do you think they mean the likes of Q magazine? They are the ones who gave the last album 2 out of 5 right? To me, I don't think the band will ever win over that sort of magazine, that rating is an insult to the album and probably more to do with whose name was on the front cover rather than the music itself.

Q used to love them, oddly enough. 4 stars for PHUQ and a big review rather than just the normal paragraph. 4 stars for "Endless Nameless" and the comment that "history will judge them", referring to the fact that they split before its release...

Now you say that, I remember the advertisment for "I wanna go..." single had a qoute from Q sayin it was a power pop gem or something. I reckon they are the sort of magazine that goes with trends though so when the WH looked like they were about to be massive around PHUQ era they felt ok to give them a positive review.

Of course there are different writers now with different opinions etc. I think the problem I have with some of the rock press is they get wet over bands who aren't that different to the WH yet dismiss the WH just cos they don't deem them "cool".
