That's quite a compliment to call someone 'perhaps the most talented British songwriter since John Lennon'. I don't think he is the first journalist to have said it either.

funnily enough Kerrang used that saying when reviewing the original fishing for luckies back in 94.

it went something like this
"Lennon and McCartney, Ginger is well up there with the best of them"

(waits for someone to correct me and put proper sentence !!)

Not gonna correct you with actual sentence,

but Kerrang! have long been massive admirers of Ginger's work, solo or otherwise.

As a mag it has flaws, follows trends etc. but Ginger has always maintained a level of respect in the British rock press in general, and with Kerrang! in particular (despite infamous past run-ins!), even when veering off into pastures new with his solo stuff.

truth is, press have a little too much sway over people's minds, including mine, when it comes to the music you investigate.

A bad review can cause people to skim right past it, a great one makes people take notice.

Always disappointed if I see a shitty Supersuckers or Wildhearts review - I know it's unreflective of the audience reaction and feeling, but that's the press for you - manipulative and unreflective so often.

You gotta lean to read between the lines, and trust your gut instinct!

5K gig London Islington Academy

another London show to follow suit shortly -

tomorrow night! Aaaaaaaaaah! Cannot wait! Wildhearts tix for London and Nottingham later in the year also.

The kind of shows where time stands still and nothing else matters.

I'll be in my 'Bug' Sick of drugs shirt again tomorrow in Camden, until I get a Ginger t-shirt, may be wearing some cheap sporty clothing if the weather's good -
come say hello if you wish,

hoping all the Pete Doherty fans are fashionably late and I can actually see the man perform!

'kin Camden Underworld! My fave haunt in London. If I took a E, it'd be like unbounded ecstacy. Just seeing Ginger again is gonna plaster a smile across my face for the duration!

See all you rocking people there! Enjoy!
