Ginger's Stickered Les Paul - trivia!

Everyone knows about Ginger's stickered Les Paul, and how more stickers appear from time to time. However, until recently, I was unaware that there's also one sticker on the back of the guitar.
I assume others know about it too, but I've not seen it mentioned before. Or maybe I'm the only one that's interested in this kind of thing!
Anyone else know about it? I was a little tickled when I saw it.

Is it the one that reads something like "Your name is David"???

Almost. It says "My real name is Dav.." - the last part being either obscurred or torn.
I thought it kinda funny. The amount of people that have seen him playing that guitar and not known what his real name is (although it's easy enough to find out). And yet the 'answer' was on his guitar.
Meh. It made me smile anyway.

Nah, you're not the only one 'cos I'm sad too. I'm always wondering how many layers of stickers there are on that thing, and whether the Frankenstein sticker I gave him years back at a signing ever made it on there...
I think I took more pictures of that guitar than of him on this last tour. I have a cunning plan you see....

It may or may not involve my plastic guitar hero controller...

Quite right too! Apostrophe mis-use is a heinous crime.
I was sure it was "My real name is..." as opposed to "Your real name is...".
I'll ask the other half to take a look at the picture I made her take.

Might be preaching to the converted but here goes...
I don't know about the stickers but its a Gibson Les Paul 25/50th Anniversary model (25 for how many years the LP has been in production up until that point and 50 for how long Les Paul himself had been in the music business) made in 1978/79. Its got different fretboard inlays to Standards/Customs and a unique headstock inlay.

It always puzzled me that Ginger covered what is a rare and expensive guitar in stickers.

I wonder if he has since regretted it as it surely would have been worth a lot more without the stickers when he was selling off a load of guitars to raise some cash last year. Maybe that's the reason he hung on to that particular one as he wouldn't have got as much for it covered in stickers - although I'm sure it's a great guitar anyway so worth hanging onto for that alone.

I'm sure if Ignger wanted to he could easily get rid of the stickers, a bit of acetone would do the trick nicely.

I don't know that he'd ever sell it. Wasn't he given it by someone? I'm sure I read somewhere that he was? I've tried to remember for a while, but I'm buggered if I can - it might have been a guitar mag...
And while we're on geetars, can anyone shed any light on
this Ultimate-Guitar forum post?

i think you are right there is some sort of history behind the famous les paul,,but cant remember,,,one other thing i dont think he will ever sell that one,,,,and as for the stickers, the stickers are (for me) what makes it Gingers trademark,,,,think about those gigs we have all been to and even before the band are on if you get sight of that guitar you know Gingers here and its all going happen very soon,,,,,its an iconic part of the wildhearts and should live on as part of Ginger,,

Maybe it would help get the stickers off, but I expect it would bugger the finish up too as it is a solvent for most paints and laquers.
