How Legends Love Lyrics... It's Fill-In-The-Blanks Time!

Postby Ean » 15th Jan 08, 17:37

Here's how it sounds (to my slightly dodgy ears) so far.

Anybody fancy filling in some gaps?

Alterations and additions in italics

How Legends Love

Here you come; here you go; what you want;
How you want and where you want it to be
I was looking for a little fun but you had new designs on me
Way to go, you’re the lady, you’re the world,
And I gotta say you chill the eye.
But there was only you it’s all I can do or get brushed aside

Ooh ‘Cos there was only, only, only, only you
It was only, only, only, only you
Was it worth the time?
It was only, only, only, only you
It was only, only, only, only you
When the passion was on you were the sweetest little kitten
You were too late to care
And we started feeling shiny, bright and new
Ah, but in between the planning and the playing and the patronisation
There was only you

There you go yet again and you’re taking away what you figure I need
So you say you can have any man, I’d sooner ******* me
Then you’re saying that I need to grow up
So I’m a boy? Now make up your mind
There’s only you and all I can do is get left behind

Ooh ‘Cos there was only, only, only, only you
It was only, only, only, only you
Was it worth **********?
It was only, only, only, only you
It was only, only, only, only you
When the pressure was on you were the sweetest little kitten
You were too late to care
And we started feeling shiny, bright and new
Ah, but in between the planning and the playing
And the cup of the man coming next.
On the top, it was only you

If you hadn’t cheated why did you scare away your ******
Quicker than she arrived
For a while I had myself a little habit, but at least a legal one this time
I told myself that I should forget her but instead I’m singing ‘bout her every night
‘Cos when there’s only you, it’s all you can do to keep the memory alive

Ooh ‘Cos there was only, only, only, only you
It was only, only, only, only you
Was it worth **********?
It was only, only, only, only you
It was only, only, only, only you
When the pressure was on you were the sweetest little kitten
Now we're too late to care
And you started feeling shining, bright and new
Oh, but in between the planning of the playing
And the ******* of the men coming ****** down here
*********************************
So what’cha gonna do when there’s only you?

In the end there's nothing you can do but bid her adieu.

I'm gonna keep at it, but any help would be appreciated. :D

Thanx Ean. I would love to fill in the gaps mate, but I have no idea. You have made this song come alive even more.

Thanx a bunch. :D

Just to be awkward, i can't fill in any gaps, but where you got "you were too late to care" i always hear "you were teenage again", and at the end where you've got "In the end there’s nothing you can do but give her her due" i always hear "in the end there's nothing you can do but bid her adieu"...maybe that's just me...you're probably still right, but hey, i tried!
and just last week as i was clearing shit from off my shelf...

I used to hear 'teenage again' too

Just before that I used to hear "sweetest little KID' rather than kitten (making it all refer to age) but looking back that really wouldn't make sense

Now listening again I can hear your suggested 'bid her adieu'

That's what this thread is all about. All that lot is, is my best guess at what I hear.

So d'you reckon it's:-

When the passion was on you were the sweetest little kid and
You were teenage again
And we started feeling shiny, bright and new

or:-

When the passion was on you were the sweetest little kitten
You were teenage again
And we started feeling shiny, bright and new

?

Ooh, I like the other bit though, I'm gonna change it I think. :D

Any takers for the last line of the third chorus?

i'd go for Kitten actually, after looking at it in context...

but i'm at a loss for the 3rd verse...what's the chances it'll get played on this upcoming acoustic tour?

Definitely kitten
(I don't think passion and kid would go together, it's a bit 'hand of a child' wrong)

so..
When the passion was on you were the sweetest little kitten
You were teenage again
And we started feeling shiny, bright and new

That one!
But then it COULD be 'too late to care' anyway, so I don't know!

Ooh! Nice thread. I'll be back this weekend to put in my two cents. I think we'll get this all straightened out!

Unfortunately, I cannot make out any of the ******* parts. I agree it's "teenage again" and not "too late to care" The end is definitely "bid her adieu" - I am also not sure that "was it worth the *********" is correct. It's buried so deep in there that it is tough to say you can even hear the start of that line. It could be anything.

I have the japanese version on its way to me right now, so I will have a fresh version instead of one ripped from someone else on the hub. I also have excellent headphones at work that allow me to hear things more clearly. I may have more input in a couple of weeks.

OK, so I found some good headphones here at home and hooked them up to the computer. I am now positive that these lines are correct:

"teenage again"
"bid her adieu"

I am pretty sure that the last verse has the line "men comin' talkin' down here" and the last line that you have a blank ends with "all the time".

With any luck, the Japanese version will have lyrics, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

"so you say you could have any man, I'd sooner you clued in me"

Does that make sense? Could that be it?

And at the end, could it be "girls, boys, & men"?

Just noticed that the part that I suspect goes "girls, boys & men" happens in both the second and third verses, although in the third verse there is more thrown in. I am pretty sure it is not "And the cup of the man coming next. On the top, it was only you".

Does anyone else have any insight on this friggin' song, or is this dead?

If I go to NYC, I'm asking Ginger this myself. Also, I am hoping he plays it live so that someone gets a good chance to hear what all these missing lines are.

Ah, who are we kidding... It was only ever really me and you. And I've got nothing new to add. :?
