Ha, ha, I was utterly terrified! I loved the idea but there was no way I wanted to be the *only* person singing along - it's great to have the whole crowd singing along to it but you don't really want to hear my voice on it's own through a PA.... that's why I backed off. But he was insistent. God, that was amazing though. I was so bloody flattered. Singing with Ginger... dream come true.
So this is why I was trying to get other folk to join in. Cover up my caterwauling! I'm glad you helped out :)

singing that into the mic together with Ginger was – well – words kind of fail me but it was one of the best musical experiences of my life!

Mine too. I can die a happy Wildhearts fan now. I don't think it's going to get any better than that. 12 years I've been a fan and now I'm just beside myself.

robdy2k wrote:The girls friends took lots of photos – don’t know if anyone on here knows her but I’m definatley in a lot of the pictures and would LOVE a copy if possible.

This is the funny thing - I didn't even know them! But bless their cotton socks, they did take pictures for me. I have 2 photos and one of the girls said she'd send me more. When I get them I will let you know. I think I can see your nose in one of my pictures but that's it so far. I'll send you a link to 'em.

You're giddy? I'm still floating 10ft off the ground! I still haven't got my marbles back and it took half an hour for my hands to stop shaking. My god... :D

Went to the Worcester show last night. I hate to say it but that was, without doubt, the worst show I have seen Ginger do. OK, they were having big sound problems (no monitors) but it was just odd. The whole set was a giant segue, the inbetween links just repetitive guitar bits; it was hard to know when to clap/cheer. There ws no Scott there, but a few guys from the audience played bongos. I was towards the back and the amount of people talking was infuriating; it has to be said though that Ginger didnt really do a lot to work the crowd. The whole thing just felt a bit "by the numbers" and, to be honest, despite having a good sing a few times, I just wanted to go home.
Odd.

Yeah he was, he's the other guitarist, although he spent about half the gig changing broken strings...

Despite nearly being brained by the mic-wielding bongoist during 29 x The Pain ( ), I enjoyed it. I think being right at the front so you could actually see evey note being played helped immensely, it may have been more of a great muso's night out than a great gig.

It was an odd setup though, the monitors were on the floor in front of the stage balanced on crates and the mic stands were wedged in between them - that's why Ginger couldn't adjust it properly at the start. The 'floor' didn't work because they were micing the wrong side of the board from where Ginger was stamping and using the wrong kind of mic.

I'll agree with Jimmy79 on the Manchester thread though, Ginger's guitar sound wasn't the best I've heard - those horrible little Roland things they were using sound terrible when you remove all the Mid-range like Ginger does to get his sound. :?

Ginger was in the building sometime earlier cos he asked my mate where the loo was ! Times were on a piece of paper by the door - 22:15 23:45 - 90 mins, which is pretty much what he did.

I thought Scott was Scott Sorry - was it another Scott then ?

Re: Leicester.
Gotta say ,this was pretty disappointing too,
Ginger sure is "Down on Leicester(sic)","Greetings from shitsville " indeed!
But!! Although I'm sure we never got anywhere near 90 mins ,
The admission was worth the money alone just to hear "How hard can you make it?"
and "Awareness and the Great Integrity" sublime dark ,dark country wow!!.

I too thought the crazy tambourine thing was a woman ????

Thought the Breakdowns and Eureka machines were pretty cool too!

Yes, different Scott. This is Scott 'Motherfucking' Metzger, who is helping out on guitar duties.

Cheers to everybody who came up to chat to us after the Nottingham show!

Nottingham was MUCH better than the Leicester date. We played a lot better and the crowd was bigger and much more responsive. maybe t was because it was Friday night, or maybe it was because we all had decent sound, but everybody was in a good mood- including Ginger!

Some strange heckling from the audience durinG Ginger's set, but all in all a top night!

Ginger definately has a downer on The Charlotte in Leics though...probably won't be back there!

Was at Worcester last night, thought it was so much better than Leicester, thought the venue was OK, although would be better with the stage at the end rather than where it was. Not the cheapest drink wise either was it, two pints & vodka/diet coke just under a tenner.

I was also at the back, and agree there were too many people talking - my missus had a go at two lads who were comparing Ginger to Bono, and how the wrong one gets to play Wembley. I agree lads, but in the middle of a gig is not the time to discuss it!!

I enjoyed it, I think it's nice to see Ginger in a more laid back mode than full on Wildies set. Even more Steve Earle references last night, My Old Friend The Blues and a passing section of Galway Girl - love it, bring on a proper gig together. Wetting myself thinking about it now.

The opening band were instantly forgettable - the best thing about them was when the bass player came grooving across the stage during Ginger's set, shaking an egg, hilarious.

Enjoyed Eureka Machines again.

The funniest thing of the night though, was the bongo playing, Jack Black lookalike, mic-stand wielding maniac  . That was brilliant - how did you manage to grab Ginger's mic-stand, and were you after the Bon Jovi gig - glad I wasn't at the front, looked like everyone was getting concussion.

Worcester...

Postby pcough » 3rd Mar 08, 00:21

I've never really felt compelled to write in about a gig before...However,

The Marrs Bar is my local venue, and I have been to it many times...Ginger was someone a little different to the usual acts that I go there to see, and one who I was really looking forward to seeing - so much so that I ended up going on "me tod" and drinking only coke all night!!!

Usually, the Marrs Bar have the audio stuff down pat...so I'm not sure what happened there, and the guy that runs the sound system was (one of) the regulars...

I was hoping for a bit more out of Ginger....where was the witty banter? where was the interaction with the crowd?...Eureka Machines (IMHO) actually got the (majority) of the crowd ready for a good rockin' night.

Don't get me wrong, the music was superb and Ginger's ability to produce polished tracks shone through...but there was a distinct feeling of..."well the kit's sh!t so the fans'll be too...lets play and then get the hell off the stage..."

As for the crowd, well there was a lot of people talking all the way through...can't be done in a small venue like this and really distracting for both the musos and the genuine fans that were there to see an act they respect.

Ho hum...maybe I just witnessed a bad night, but last night is unlikely to motivate me into going to see Ginger in any other form or format...shame, cause I really wanted to enjoy it last night.

Exeter was brilliant and surprisingly busy - Ginger was on very good form I thought. And Eureka Machines were ace - frankly, I was always going to say that but I hadn't seen them before and they were just top entertainment. And having had a proper listen to the EPs now, they haven't half got the tunes too...

Set list was pretty much the stuff people have mentioned before, with Moon River chucked in as an opener.

I'd had pretty much the worst day it was possible to have yesterday so I need entertaining and I'm glad I made the trip, as I nearly didn't. Still, if it's possible, the journey home was even more random, but I'm not going to talk about that...

I nearly forgot to mention the best bit of the night... Ginger working out the middle bit to Spinal Tap's "Stonehenge" on the spot, while Chris Catalyst mimed the lowering of the monument and Scott did the dwarf dance. I haven't laughed that much in a very long time...

I hope you'll reconsider. :(

It's hard to make out, was this the first time you've seen him live? Or just first acoustic gig?
